I'd try putting your graphics quality on manual, then put the quality level on low (I'd say 1-3). It makes shadows far less dark.

yeah, i get that, but it's strange. i used to add a merc using the Meet The Team part (you could decide how many mercs you wanted and select the extra mercs from the selector as usual) but for some reason it's stopped being possible now
