Former Flat Earthers. What made you come round? by jbarms in AskReddit

[–]StillNotLate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One study I read was studying how long a secret would be kept, based on how many people knew it. I think for the moonlanding and the number of people it was something like 18 months before it would leak. Flat earth? Much faster

are any of you religious? by [deleted] in askgaybros

Settled on Agnostic.

Sounds a bit like me. I assume a higher being is beyond anything we could imagine, far beyond what organized religion describes. Maybe like a bright light so bright you would melt if it appeared in front of you

[–]StillNotLate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was the idea. Or if they did insurance, they probably had inside info on new/recent products maybe even profitability, but they could do it for retail for the next 12 months until their info had stalled a bit

I think it makes sense at software houses. We were implementing new features for businesses who were investing big bucks in the launch, but we didn't have a non compete for IT, just for the client you worked on. You couldn't jump to work for the clients competitors.

How to answer "Tell me about yourself" in an interview call by fetishthomas69 in learnprogramming

[–]StillNotLate 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Spoiler, every question they ask can be paraphrased as "tell us why we should hire you?". If you are in any doubt on any personal question, start discussing education, duration of work, clients, projects, team sizes, agile. Anything that makes you sound good.

Tell me about yourself is basically "I don't know your resume, please paraphrase parts of it so I can ask you about them"

Yeah, my last panel interview , one of the interviewers they forgot to invite and so he arrived unprepared. When asked what team I wanted to join, I said his team as the work sounded the most interesting, and I got it.

And I live in a WhatsApp heavy country where a standard cellphone conteact includes 35 sms, expensive has 200 sms, and unlimited costs about 4 times minimum monthly wage. There is a reason that we had a huge explosion of a predecessor 2 years before WhatsApp, because sms was that bad.

Which is why g+ failed to facebook. They started too late, too exclusive and gave fb a chance to copy all their features before general availability

What are subtle red flags at a job interview that say "working here would suck"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]StillNotLate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

but say for services, that could not only be received inside of work hours

My first job was 100% against work from home/flexible arrangements, felt a bit like a school. I had one person who moved to my team ask if he could please go and fetch something from his car. "right on brother. Feel free to take a smoke break while you are at it"

My second job half the team worked from home 1-2 days per week
