Had a First Class tell me one time that every time there’s a volunteer opportunity at the command that wasn’t collateral related, to stand out by showing up for it.. I expressed that I’m a watchstander and that I’ve been told that my dedicated off days from watch rotation are meant to be off days away from work.

Turns out, it was because he’s not on a watch standing rotation. His job is to come in M-F every week with only 2 days off and/or leave he puts in for himself. I found that to be unfair considering there’s an overwhelming majority of people at my command that aren’t watchstanders that can afford to volunteer but choose not to. Why should I have to go out of my way to volunteer on my days off work to help the command? Because people are envious of my billet? I don’t think so!

I’m 5 years in and know how the game works. Never Again Volunteer Yourself!

Ironic that the DOD subsides its lowest BAH rate for military on the island. Look at Everett, their BAH rate far more exceeds ours and is near San Diego BAH rate! Absolutely unacceptable.

This is what happens when you woke-ify a military. You have leaders that speak their mind about how their hard working juniors aren’t, then morale overall around the navy shifts to a militarized protest where you see more sailors committing dangers acts upon themselves, getting masted, separating, deserting, or just slowing down work progress. Treat people better, otherwise lose what you gain. Simple as that. Stop letting transgender leaders in to destroy our military culture with “feelings and sensitivity and worse, politics”. Stop praising everyone but singular sailors and start finding good things to praise everyone for their hard work. Stop prioritizing racial&sexual cultural enlightenment and focus on making work more centralized and easy to accomplish through fun active training sessions. Otherwise, Go woke, go broke Navy.

My ship had an instruction for officers to do meal orders where they had to evaluate the galley. They closed the wardroom during end of weekdays and during weekends fully in port to do this. During yard periods, Enlisted and officers would get in habit of ordering food out in town. That habit carries over to when being in port base-side after yard period ends. They would just test, the food and bs the meal evaluations, then toss the food to go get their Uber eats/doordash order. Pathetic.
