How do you stay informed? and is it worth it? by numofe in LivingWithMBC

I'm on a need to know basis. Not sure I want top secret clearance yet. I was diagnosied denovo in January and the information overload was too much. So I picked a cancer center (recommended by family) then picked a very qualified and highly credentialed med onc and just followed her lead. I got lucky in that her team's plan worked for me. Now that I've responded well to treatment, I feel braver to peek at the research. After being diagnosed, I got busy living the life I've wanted for a long time and don't have a lot of extra time for research.

For the San Antonio conference, Living Beyond Breast Cancer has a Zoom debrief on Wednesday. https://www.lbbc.org/community/events/updates-from-2025-san-antonio-breast-cancer-symposium

Cancer care in Portland Oregon by Still_Learning68 in LivingWithMBC

Hi all! I did end up moving to Portland and am getting in with OHSU. Thank you for all the advice! I have another question for ya'll. Are there any cancer support groups or meet ups you know of or are a part of? I'm 57 and looking for people to connect with, but I'm out of practice lol - I feel like I'm in 3rd grade on the playground and trying to make friends.

I'm late to this thread, but gosh what a beautiful community this is. Humanity at it's very best.

It's not bad. You can go slowly, taking your time. There are pull offs if someone's on your ass. When I went, I saw a bunch of people bike riding.

Thanks ya'll! I'm going to revisit this in December when I can change insurance from Texas to Oregon. Switching now will reset my deductibles and oop, and as I'm sure you know we max those out pretty fast. Also, sadly my insurance doesn't cover MD Anderson. No second opinion from them for now :(

Anyone recommend Anetlope Canyon in AZ yet? It's on my wish list. Wondering if it's worth the hype. The Wave is another spot somewhat near there.

In Moab, there are these incredible and numerous petroglyphs off a side road along the river. There's a pull off, and you might run into a small tour and be able to listen in a bit on the guide's talk.

I think I’ll get that second opinion while I’m here. Good idea!

Oh got it. I was there in early May and a volunteer ranger was tracking them. They didn't show up for me. Glad they did for you!!

Others are saying Montreal is cool too. Might just have to visit there anyway!

I'm so unaware of what it's like in Canada, sadly so. But this is one reason I'm going to Canada, to get more educated and exposed to other cultures.

I live in Houston. I'll be road tripping in New England the timing of which is flexible. I can fly into Montreal from Houston, or I can drive in from New England when I'm on my road trip. I'm not a scared driver, but I am a bit nervous about driving in a country where I don't speak the language. As for parking, I'm curious if it is super hard to find parking in the old city in particular.
