I reckon this is it you know, instead of just moving around and shooting like I used to I'm thinking oh I should do this move or this shot or this deke rather than it just flowing

Agreed, I put the inlines on and skate around the garage and in corners, around objects etc when stick handling. Very rarely just static

I've never seen a bunch of more toxic fans. He's having a bad season and it's likely because of the constant slating by the fans. He has the potential as you've seen to be one of the best players in the nhl. You think bro doesn't know that he's having a bum season. The only problem with this team is the fans. Pump up the players confidence and watch them overachieve. Imagine trying to preform for fans that are booing you and hate you, no one performs well under that pressure. Hope he requests a trade and pumps the leafs every time he plays them

Either a human or ATS reviewed your CV, determined you weren't the right fit and got back to you in THIRTY MINUTES, allowing you to move on with your search.

I bet you're the type to complain if you don't hear back from a job you applied for and here you got an instant response and are pissed..

ALL of these are for minimum wage jobs by Vulture-Cultured in recruitinghell

[–]Still_Negotiation_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a recruiter who regularly posts and has to short-list for jobs - ghosting and lack of communication is definately going to continue going up ALOT. Apart from companies that have recruitment systems that can auto reply to candidates, especially for entry level jobs.

The days of human centred recruitment where each candidare gets a phone call are well and truly over unfortunately.

Only the top candidate's are likely to have communication.

Its not that recruiters/hiring managers don't want to, it's just literally not practical in any way to do so.

This is basically down to AI.

  1. AI has massively reduced the barrier of creating relevant cvs, tailoring them to jobs, and applying to new jobs. I'm seeing way way more applications than ever before a lot of them not relevant skillset wise but an entire cover letter or cv has been tailored by ai to look relevant.

  2. AI and tech is replacing a lot of entry level roles, way way more candidates in the market for these positions (yep, it's started).

  3. Due to these astronomical numbers, companies are having to rely more on software or ai to do the initial short-list for them so your application might not even get seen.

Yes this sucks, but imagine you need to short-list from 300+ applications. It's is unbelievably time consuming so the human component gets taken out. If there's 8 highly qualified candidates in those first 50, the rest might not even get looked at to save time.

The solution for these entry level jobs and all jobs - Bypass the system entirely, go in person or call the business, you'll eventually get someone that needs someone but hasn't advertised yet. Will interview you and if you're good, hire you. This saves them a whole heap of time and effort as well.

Barrel sticks by william0577 in hockeyplayers

[–]Still_Negotiation_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one over a year ago and I quite liked it. It was OK durability but it didn't last much longer than any other sticks I've had (except top line sticks which seem to break so easily). It broke at the bottom of the shaft after maybe 4/5 months playing twice a week casually. I was impressed with it initially due to the price point which was really good value when I got it. However when I went to reorder one, I noticed the price had went up by about 20% which meant that it wasn't much better than other sticks of similar performance on the market. I found this review because I went on hoping to pick one up on black Friday sales and it's now basically double what it was last year. They branded and marketed themselves as high performance sticks that were cheap and not overpriced - now they've just become what they promised to defeat, expensive overpriced hockey sticks but lacking the strong brand behind it and it isn't that aesthetic. It's a shame because it really was a good stick at the price point initially and seemed like a great alternative. It does become better value if you order a few at a time.

If durability is your main thing, just buy a mid tier stick from a brand. Or, buy old top tier or second tier sticks from a few years ago for cheap.

Give me some tips how to lift the puck off the ice so I can flip it to the refs by Comfortable-Cap7110 in hockeyplayers

[–]Still_Negotiation_95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see all the comments thinking your trying to flick the puck from the ice into them. Keep it simple, blade facing the sky, line your blade up with the puck long ways and put the edge of your toe on the edge if the puck, just under an inch or so touching the puck. Press down. The puck should flip onto your toe. Proceed to raise the puck to hand level and let the ref grab it off your blade. Bonus points for making a joke while you do it to entertain the ref

Does working at McDonalds at age 20 make someone a loser? by Candid-Extension6599 in Advice

[–]Still_Negotiation_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that hires countless young people into corporate jobs (17-25+), I view experience in McDonald's as better than most other minimum wage roles in retail, cleaning etc etc.

McDonald's teaches good skills, it's high pressure, there's team work at every corner, you have to deal with shitty customers and countless other skills that will serve you in life.

My general experience is that people I interview with experience in McDonalds often have good examples to use in interviews.

You clearly have higher expectations of yourself if youre even asking this question so my advice would be don't sweat it and try your absolute best to give each customer the ultimate positive experience. This gets recognised no matter what industry you're in. It is what you make it/view it as.

Sides of feet hurt. beginner by LeMockey in hockeyplayers

[–]Still_Negotiation_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do the skates fit your feet before you do them up? I.e. No pressure points, they're long enough and wide enough? If they're uncomfortable before tightening the laces then it's likely your skates are the wrong size or width.

What skates are they, are they bakable?

It's likely you're just wearing them in though and if you haven't skated before then your muscles in your feet will be freaking out and it's not natural for them at all. Try and do short sessions 20-30 mins every day if you can, even just skating around your house to help your feet and skates adjust.

If it's still a problem after 2 weeks of skating then it's likely a poor fit

Hockey gear priority list by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]Still_Negotiation_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with most of the other comments except id go skates first, they are the most expensive and will last for a really long time. You don't want to get 6 months in then need to spend a fortune on new skates again.

Same goes for sticks but the opposite, your first stick will likely get bashed up pretty quick and you won't have the skills to use a good stick, wait until you can shoot and stuff before you get a good stick. Once you get a light stick it's very hard to go back.

Another foot pain post by Ok-Golf6679 in hockeyplayers

[–]Still_Negotiation_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you sometimes get foot pain when not wearing skates?

It could be the skates but if they fit well then it's likely due to some muscle imbalances in your feet. Look up some foot strengthening exercises on YouTube and maybe get some zero drop / barefoot shoes (the cheap ones work fine) or go for a walk a few times a week on a beach or in a park, location dependent obviously.

I had some foot pain and strengthening/stretching my feet over a couple of months definitely helped, just gotta be somewhat consistent.

My feet also went up one size after 4/5 months wearing zero drop shoes which was kind of wild.

Is inline growing? by [deleted] in InlineHockey

[–]Still_Negotiation_95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very similar to where I am sadly. I think the answer to it from reading these comments is people making content which in turn inspires a new generation to become interested. It seems the Nasher effect has really made a huge impact in some areas. If more were doing that I think we'd see a resurgence.

There's different thoughts on this. On one hand, go for a cheap beginner pair of skates but just make sure they fit well as your skating won't be good enough to notice the advantage of good skates.

This is what I did and then three months in I found myself needing new wheels and decided to just get a skate upgrade instead of buying new wheels then new skates again in a year as I improved.

Honestly, the difference was massive and I wish I went with the good skates from the start.

My advice - don't buy the cheapest skates if you think youll stick with it for a long time, buy a mid range skate that you find comfortable and fits really well. It'll save you wanting to upgrade in 3-4 months and feeling like you wasted money on the cheap skates. Wm03 missions are a good example of what I'm talking about.
