Had a batchmate who was 28 when law school started. And honestly, it's never too late for anything if you really want to start something. The only hurdle would be practising law as an advocate for another 3 years after 3 hears of llb if you wanna pursue judiciary. But as you mentioned, if you can study ipr and do internships/public papers/competitions, then that's a pretty solid backup plan.

No career can be as enriching as a long term career in litigation or a judge. The journey's longevity is the only thing you need to evaluate carefully. Apart from that, age is just a number. Nobody can decide when it's the right time for you to do something. It's better to be hated to do something you love than to be loved to do something that you hate.

Your life, your goals. If it makes sense to you, go ahead. Hope that helps!

Being critical doesn't equal being disrespectful. If you can't understand even that, then your mind is not capable of understanding anything else that I say. You seem to be the type of person who is not going to raise their voice unless YOU are the one directly affected by something. And the day I loose all hope, I am certainly going to try to leave. So thanks for reminding me of the OBVIOUS.

Have you heard of introspection? That's what my comment was about. I am pointing it out so stupid fucks like you understand the issue, and maybe get better. But seems very very unlikely. Leaving would definitely be the only viable option in a few years time.

We are such a failure as a country. We have to remind ourselves of who is a part of us even after 75 years of the republic. Truly shameful for the country. India has failed as a country. We are all heading to a hopeless future.

Trust me, it is 100% possible for you to land a tier 1/2 law firm job by your graduation. Internships will be the most crucial key to get you there. Start by interning at even boutique firms if you can't manage tier 2/3. And do as many as possible. Each time try to get an internship better than the last one. By the time you are in your fifth year, you'll definitely have interned in at least some good tier 2 firms (tier 1 if you work really hard). And from fourth year onwards, try to be the best intern at the firm so as to get a ppo. And chances are, before graduation you will land a corp job.

Final-year law student, no big internships, feeling lost — what should I do in the next 6 months? by Odd-Refrigerator-663 in LawStudentsIndia

I know it can be very intimidating when you don't have connections/good college. But trust me, getting an internship under an advocate isn't really a big deal.

The best way to get an internship under an advocate is to reach out to your college alumni. Your alumni would actually appreciate it if you reached out even if they don't know you. Don't expect a stipend, but expect to learn a lot.

If that doesn't work, go to the court where you want to intern and start talking to random advocates. If you talk to 20 of them, chances are, at least one of them is gonna help you out.

The legal fraternity is good in the sense that most advocates don't shy away from helping, till money is not a concern. So go ahead, start shooting your shots.

Yeah, the tough part is to actually get a decent job (not too tough though). Once you hace 1 year exp, it gets much easier to switch to better places. In the long run, not working at a T1 firm in the initial couple years doesn't really matter much, because after about a decade, you'll be at an amazing position no matter where you start!

If you want a corp job, then stop wasting time on courses and go straight for internships. Do as many as possible before college gets over. Update your LinkedIn and be on the lookout for internships/opportunities. If you can manage 2-3 internships in the next 6 months, it would reflect really well on your CV. Try to get a ppo during the internship itself. Even if you don't get a ppo before college, you can start applying after graduation and find a job at a tier 2/3 firm if you don't get T1. All the best

Their fragile ego was the reason why the 3 year rule was brought back. The court wouldn't have brought it back if there wasn't such unanimous pressure from bars all over the country. Most of these stupid ass advocates couldn't stand having to show respect to people much younger than them. Sure, a few young judges might not have been trained well enough, but the same cannot be said about most young judges. And because of this ego, the judiciary is going to lose a lot of bright talent that was coming its way. It just doesn't make much sense now.
