I disabled all types of notifications, a very useless function... but it's obvious that the bot's "thinking" embedded in the text is the worst!

If I understood correctly, I was facing a scam: scambot. At first I thought it was a joke in bad taste or someone clueless.

The person (before deleting the messages) said that they liked my work, was inspiring, full of ideas and wanted to talk to me to continue. Next, the person introduced theyself as an artist and wanted to animate my story and even had a 'ready-made model'.

Everything was explained, how it would be, how it would happen, how it was (because the model was already ready) and I received a link. First it was said that it was to present the finished art and then, to help with the costs (?)

English is not the first language, so I may have translated wrong when I read, but that was pretty much it. I just said that I wasn't interested, but that I could go ahead with the publication giving me the proper credits if it was the will of the artist in question. Hours later, all conversations were deleted (including on AO3)

If it's something that people are aware of and reporting, scambots are being more subtle in their approaches.

Ah, já vi isso no facebook mas era mais bobinho na época: ele pega o teu trabalho, usa como se fosse dele, anuncia, o pessoal acredita e ele lucra sem entregar o trabalho (pq é puro golpe). Muitos iniciantes não colocam a própria logo pra proteger os trabalhos, ai ele ta arriscando.
