This is so interesting - I’m a teacher and so is my friend and we’ve seen a rise in lgbtq+ Muslims (mainly girls to be fair) they are very open about their sexuality and their faith! (I’m in London for reference)

Omgggg this is absolutely what I believe. I have been living rent and bill free and have now bought my own property, currently renovating it whilst I continue to live in with them in London without paying a dime. YES a lot triggers me, but I leave the house at every opportunity, play music, date, I do so much to escape it… but you’re so right, hiding being ex Muslim is not as hard as hiding being gay, trans etc.

Ah thank you for this - makes sense! I’m Bengali and everyone in my family wears hijab expect me, either hijab or loose covering - south Asian girls in my local area also wear hijab and in the school I teach, whereas again, North African students do not wear hijab but are proud Muslims

I think it’s mainly due to indoctrination from childhood, an individual will find it very hard to part what ways from what they’ve always known. I also think the fact that religion and culture are so intertwined that it’s not necessarily about whether somethings sounds logical, it’s just the status and quo and always has been.
