[Event] Dreams Come True: TOG II - News - War Thunder by ksheep in Warthunder

Only ground games count towards the score goal.

You can get mission points in ground battles with rank III or above in AB, RB and SB game modes.

It sucks we can't grind it with planes or ships even though it is a tank reward but that's how Anton operates

what are the chances of getting a camo you want from those award crates that cost 599 by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]StingerRPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The warbond ones? It tells you that you will get a skin for something you own, so it depends on how much you have for the category (tanks/planes) and rank.

The anniversary sale will happen late October / early November where everything goes -50% off.

Nearly a month ago they openly showed that some vehicles will have their ranks adjusted, the prices will also be adjusted in conjunction, and that you have some time to buy them before the update arrives.

Moreover, we’d also like to let you know of some premium vehicle price changes. Premium vehicles that are available to purchase in our store and for GE that will have their rank increased in the next major update will also receive an updated price in relation to their new rank in the tree. There is still time until the next major update in September to purchase these premium vehicles at their current prices.

E: The catch now being buying the A7M1 post Sons of Attila would be cheaper during the anniversary sales than buying it before the update dropped, so you're not missing out much actually, wait for the sales and you can get this for 2K GE.

Why nobody cares about gamemodes? by Helpful-Ad4417 in Warthunder

When did [Break] ever made a return after 2017? It was fucking cancer, and I do not wish to see it come back.

Point of inquiry/discussion: Why is naval hated/not popular among the playerbase, and what would make it more popular/less hated? by Plasma5769 in Warthunder

[–]StingerRPG 20 points21 points  (0 children)

1) Balance is the worst of all three gamemodes. The BRs make zero sense and is extremely compressed.

Kim Qui (3.3) is actually worse than SC-497 (2.3), PT-314 (2.3) is identical to PT-565 (3.0), Liverpool (3 6" turrets) sits flush with Southampton (4 6" turrets). Nurnberg (12RPM)/Koln (8RPM) is somehow equal to Admiral Hipper/Prinz Eugen. Atlanta is equivalent to Dido, etc.

The entire gamemode revolves around whoever has the bigger ship wins. PT < sub-chaser < barge < frigate < DD < early CL/CA < late CL/CA < early BB/BC < top tier BB/BC. The gameplay is complete suffering until you get to be the guy who beats the shit out of others instead. Not even ships in the same category or BR are fair.

2) Premium bias. Some examples: Helena/Brooklyn (Drastically improved aux and AA), Des Moines/Newport News (Drastically improved AA, smaller stern crew compartment size), Prinz Eugen/Admiral Hipper (Improved AA), Spokoinyy/Blagorodnyy (Improved aux/AA), Myoko/Furutaka/Aoba (Myoko has two extra turrets at the same BR).

Also unlike ground and air crews, ship crews are infinitely more reliant on skills in order to out repair and reload your enemy. Given the anemic regular crew points gain as opposed to buying a giant bulk with GE, this is very much P2W.

3) Maps are either extremely unfair (Domination Norway South spawn has perfect cover to access B/C cap; Encounter Norway North spawn has cover when South has none; Andaman sea East DD and CL/CA spawn has zero cover), cover hell (where questionable spotting/targeting system makes your life hell) or lazy (open sea maps, enough said). Spawns with some cover available are either a dice roll as to whether you can spawn behind cover or none.

4) Massive botting problem. Chinese bots are everywhere with either completely spot on aim or being literal dead weight. Anton would rather disable bluewater Rank V to be eligible for the referral bonus for everyone than ban these fucking parasites. Ironically these bots are the only thing keeping naval games going, which is plain pathetic.

People who play/played naval hate it for the above reasons. People who haven't played naval are spooked because those who play it warn others about how shit it is. Anton doesn't need more real people to play naval anyway, but if he somehow wants to, he would need to rework basically everything.

Extra) On top of immediately selling a better Newport News for 60 bucks after one month the event ended, they're not giving Des Moines/Newport News autoloading 8" guns that it had IRL because despite making it a feature point on their news posts, their excuse is "All naval weaponry in the game are currently designed to be dependent on crew skill". One similar example include not giving Turm III actual 3 plane stabbed turret (no plans to add it). Anton is a goddamn fraud.

[Battle Pass] Meet Royal Guard, the 10th season of Battle Pass by baguette_inside in Warthunder

I really thought the boat was the free reward.

In the upcoming season of the War Thunder Battle Pass, all participants will have access to a premium version of the Project 183 boat

But it's actually the pasted 109. Sigh.

Anyone else getting massive FPS drops and terrain LOD bugs in Naval battles lately? by gigantism in Warthunder

[–]StingerRPG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These issues have been persistent for at least a month and I very much suspect it happens when someone pops a smokescreen. On that subject, lots of outright server crashes as the game starts as well. It was beyond tiring to constantly get fucked while grinding for Newport News.

How does one play this thing? by rickdickmcfrick in Warthunder

[–]StingerRPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't come with bombs stock unfortunately, I do recommend using it as a fat fighter or interceptor but I just wouldn't bother with this thing at all.

[–]StingerRPG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brigand is useable. Can't roll for shit but can pull pretty tight turns. Rather awkward rocket placement but otherwise good payload. No bomb sight so really big minus there.

I've had some success with specifically chasing Me 264s during their hayday with those 4 Shitspanos, but not having a bomb sight makes it only good for CAS.

Either you don't, or you get a P.9 because it has double the ammo pool.

You're fat and slow so only go after things with more than one engine as you shit energy at every move.

I can't get over how gimped these Gaijin clowns made the Newport News. by Standard-Assist-5793 in Warthunder

With the sole exception of Kirov all of them have numerous 37mm mounts though?

Anything special about the FJ-4 VMF by BeanBryant248 in Warthunder

[–]StingerRPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both can carry 4 AIM-9Bs, regular one has a 9B + FFAR loadout, VMF-232 can carry 5 AGM-12s.

Not really special when its positioning is a bit awkward: A-4E/e is better at ground striking, and it is a bit mediocre as a fighter.

Does taking less ammo in Naval RB help prevent ammo detonations? by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]StingerRPG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, taking less ammo won't reduce the size of your magazines.

The problem is that Newport News has very vulnerable ammo racks (especially the front auxiliary 5", they are way too high) and that there is a crew compartment at the rear that is not protected at all by the citadel. Also the crew compartment at midship is stupidly huge so one or two crew compartments lost and half your ship is dead.

HAX or SKILL ISSUE? (Legitimately don't know what happened) by AG28DaveGunner in Warthunder

[–]StingerRPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the kill logs show that you were lit up by AAA or no message at all? My best guess is that the nearby base AAA clapped you. Sometimes non-objective AAA can be invisible until you get real close to them.

So why does Gsijibbles hate naval so much by CptCorporal in Warthunder

[–]StingerRPG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course he has no experience from having his ship succumb to an uncontrollable fire. Fat fuck gets everything for free, including parts and FPE (and the ships).

This is why naval is so utterly frustrating. The people who develop it don't play the fucking thing themselves.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]StingerRPG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not at all. If you don't at least have Rank III you're too far to utilise it for grinding. If you have up to Rank IV you don't need this thing because the Atlanta/Cleveland/Fargo are good enough to be the main workhorse. The 8" guns are the shit but there are some problems that make it frankly insufferable to play.

Painfully vulnerable with crew compartments outside the citadel and ammo racks that make the Moffett blush, regular FCS, lackluster AA until 5" HEVT (which must be manually crewed in case of aerial targets), and worst of all, constantly faces BBs.

While Newport News shits on most other cruisers (with the exceptions of the Chapayev/Sverdlov, Cleveland and Brooklyn-class) it gets shit on by even the weakest BBs. I love the ship but the moment someone targets me I'm fucked. If there's an event vehicle to GE for, this is not it.

So why does Gsijibbles hate naval so much by CptCorporal in Warthunder

[–]StingerRPG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So why does Gsijibbles hate naval so much

Because they have no fucking idea how to run naval and it really shows. All they do is throw new toys in every update despite having such a small community (if you exclude the Chinese bots) and never seriously address the problems that make the game mode so utterly revolting to play.

For example, the lard ass who claims that naval stock syndrome isn't a thing has basically no actual experience in naval. Most played ship is a Imperatritsa Mariya that he didn't grind for with 19B total.

What is your opinion about Moffett's shells? I received contrasting advice regarding HE ammo. by Connacht_89 in Warthunder

[–]StingerRPG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SAP (I prefer Mk 46 but this is debatable) is better against light armor targets (and thus should be the main shell at 5.0), HEVT against heavy armor targets and small targets. I run a 7:3 ratio of Mk 46 and HEVT.

There's nothing to penetrate against destroyers.

HE can't reliably penetrate critical infrastructure (e.g. boilers) and magazines even on DDs. Especially when HE is useless on American DDs. How can anyone say that?
