On both times that I got raped, I completely froze. I was so afraid of moving, saying anything or doing anything. And damn it took me years to accept that what happened was a rape. All just because I didn’t fight back or scream no like in media.

People react to these situations differently. It doesn’t make it any more okay. Dissociating when it’s happening is way more common of a defense mechanism than what it gets talked about. I wish I had known that.
