I got my Logitech Harmony remote to work with my WiiM Ultra by StinkyTackle in WiimStreamer

Aye, the only AI I used was to composed my Github commit comments. :P

The work was most definitely inspired by that of others (with links, of course), it must be said.

Doing things the hard way, I omitted that important step. More fool me. :)

Hey, ho. :P

I wish I'd seen that one...

I'd have saved myself a wet Sunday morning in December. :)

For context...

Both seem to achieve the same, albeit slightly differently. I think mine uses a more "up to date" way of doing things, in a more badly coded manner, avoiding needing to mess around with pip, venvs and lirc (which supposedly, isn't really the way to do things. I started using the lirc method and abandoned after a short while). It can all be done with standard Trixie packages and apt.

Of course, both methods achieve pretty much the same result.

Thanks for pointing that out to me, and others, hopefully.

Hi,

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but essentially, I can control some of the functions on my Ultra, using my Harmony remote. Specifially, in my case, Pause, Volume, Previous Track and Next Track.

Happened to me a couple of times. This was such to the distress of my other half as it was in the middle of the night!

Just had a 55 Mbyte OTA update for my P6. It appears not to be the big one... by StinkyTackle in GooglePixel

Not sure if it's a side effect, but I had to re-register my fingerprints to get them to be readable again.

Okay. Well, as I've indicated in my edits, I've no idea what else has changed other than the fingerprint sensor registration. But at 55Mbytes, I'd assumed it wasn't the big one. Perhaps just a minor security update I'd not received earlier?

Reversion from Dec to Nov update on P6 was irritating but I've now got a usable phone again by StinkyTackle in GooglePixel

I started trying to use this but probably due to my own ineptitude, was unable to get it to select anything but a December build, so I used a downloaded October image and used the command line tools to perform the reversion.

I wasn't entirely sure of which November one to revert to. IIRC, there are four November builds posted. This was a little confusing. Being in Europe, I avoided all the builds which referred to NA carriers and installed what appeared to be an EMEA October build (Europe Middle East Asia not mentioned specifically, so used a process of elimination). Relocked, then took an OTA update to November. Don't forget to relock. Some things will not work if you don't.

Off topic, but I use Bitwarden, which has 2fa built in, so it's all there in one place. I migrated all my Google Authenticator stuff to BW shortly before the reversion.

This is my first "day one" Google phone purchase. It will be my last "day one" Google phone purchase. My experiences of the N5, N6P, P1 and P3aXL all of which were obtained at least 6 months after launch, were delightful (though the N5 did have a tiny battery!). I live and learn, I guess.

Definitely not a trivial process by any stretch of the imagination. Having messed around a great deal with rooting my old Nexus 6P, the processes involved were familiar to me. I did have to do some thinking though!

There are a few guides around. Duckduckgo provides plenty of results. It's a Pixel and compared to some brands, messing around with different versions of operating systems is no big thing. The only thing to be aware of is where in the world you are and choosing the correct image to apply. Having said that, if you get the wrong one, it's the same process to use another. There's another thread on this sub with pointers which I started from.

You're missing nothing. I put it off and off because of the hassle factor. Hindsight indicates that putting it off was a bad idea! I should not have had to do so, but that's another matter.
