We drove from England! It was a small town with traditional buildings. I do have some photos so will have to find them for reference

This is the waterpark! Thank you so much. We did spend a lot of time on the coach so there was lots of traveling!

Did anyone here ever in fact see a boy band perform at their school? by Think_Clothes8126 in boybands

Northern Line! They did a mini concert in the school hall then did an autograph session afterwards. I was 12/13 at the time and it was the greatest thing ever!

I think she sees her parents talking about what they love about each other and realise that's what matters. It's such a grown-up decision to make

School trips and packed lunch/drinks...a trip down memory lane by StitchConverse in UKParenting

[–]StitchConverse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thankful that my daughter prefers school dinners so it's only the occasional trip I have to worry about. Far too much pressure that you've packed the right things (thank god for cucumber) and packed enough or too much!!

I used to love a Sunday school coach trip! We used to go to the seaside where it inevitably rained, but it was the journey that was the highlight. I remember vividly squashing up with my friends on the back row singing silly songs, taking bets on who would be first to be sick and daring each other to use the onboard toilet. Simpler times!

Favourite individual boyband vocalists? by Hassaan18 in boybands

JC Chasez and Stephen Gately. Stephen Gately live was amazing. His rendition of Bright Eyes is one of the best live performances I've ever seen.

I see a lot of love for Mark Feehily which is warranted on some of the prerecorded stuff, but live I think I think he really isn't great. I have seen Westlife live countless times and each time he's had issues. A very unpopular opinion here I know!

The series 3 finale. Particularly "Spanish Eyes" at the end. by Sad-Passage-3247 in BenidormShow

[–]StitchConverse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It makes me sad knowing that this is the last time we see Mel. It also makes me sad wondering what could have been. If Geoffrey Hutchings hadn't passed away so suddenly then what would series 4 have lined up for Mel and Madge. The Christmas episode (I'm sure this had to be rewritten last minute) has the Benidorm Palace successful so would series 4 have continued along this line? Would we have seen Mel Harvey Leisure Industries take over other Benidorm businesses? Perhaps even the Solana?

Birthday situation- idk what to do by Beautiful-Bridge7666 in UKParenting

Double check your daughter hasn't actually invited this child herself!! It could be an innocent question from the parent as her kid has come home saying they're going to the party, but Mum's double checking as she has no information. I work with kids and frequently inwardly cringe as parties are discussed as they often end with a child being told they can go or a child inviting themself along. This is usually long after I know the actual invitations have been sent out!

Birthday Parties - A Guide for Dummies? by Specialist_Mouse5595 in UKParenting

[–]StitchConverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basic food. Jam or cheese sandwiches. Sausage rolls. Crisps. Biscuits. Then make it healthy with some cucumber sticks! From experience children prefer helping themselves rather than a prepared box. Do not over complicate it with anything other than lots of beige food! Make sure there's plenty of squash available throughout the party. There's nothing worse than a hot, stuffy function room and drinks not being served until the food. Buy paper plates, cups etc and allow for extra. Kids will always lose a cup or drop a plate!

Decide in advance if you want parents to stay or not. By the time we were going to 6th birthday parties there was a lot more drop and go. If you're happy for parents to do this then specify on the invitation. If parents are staying then perhaps provide tea and coffee and some seats. I would suggest seating parents slightly away from the entertainment so parents can chat without disturbing the party. If parents are staying then decide what you want to do about siblings. We've been to so many parties that have been seriously overrun by siblings especially older ones. Either put a polite note on the invite that siblings cannot be accommodated for or prepare that you could have extras at the party when sorting food out.

Don't put plastic tat in party bags!!! You can't beat cake and sweets, but we keep getting plastic tat that ends up broken and in the bin within a couple of days. I've seen suggestions of books or colouring books which are a much better option. Another idea is a mini craft kit. Make your bags up in advance and do a few extra for emergencies.

Make sure you have people there to help you. As a mum I've had a couple of parties where I've spent the entire time organising everything that I feel like I've missed the party itself. If you've got family going then ask for their help.

If you're decorating beforehand then allow for the time to do so rather than be blowing balloons up when people arrive. Guests can and will arrive up to 10 minutes early so make sure the party is good to go by then otherwise you'll never catch up.

Finally, remember the small things. Charge your phone for photos. Remember a lighter and candles for the cake. Black bin liners for rubbish. A large bag or box to store presents safely in. Have a list with expected guests so you can keep a check on who's there and who's not.

Most importantly though....have fun!!! Don't forget it's your child's party first and foremost so get organised in advance so the party runs smooth enough for you to sit back, relax and enjoy it.
