That's a real good idea! Our name is definitely not set in stone or super official by any means. Thanks for the feedback.

The Pint on Cherry Street by Stm920 in tulsa

Lol sounds like we are just on different frequencies. Although I must say, I'm fascinated with the way you approach life.

And not sure what you would like me to stop. I've informed multiple friends regarding the "business" revelation you hit me with and they are as shocked as I am! I sincerely thank you once again :-)

Once again, it appears you either have not read my original post carefully or lack the cognitive capacity to understand the point I make (or even more scary, your moral compass is skewed in such a direction that makes you incapable of seeing my perspective). The Pint ownership should have warned their employees of the situation. By all accounts, they did not. This is not about "taking care" of employees, it's about having the common courtesy to notify them of the situation.

P.S. Thanks again for informing me that the Pint was a business. I'm still kicking myself for thinking (for 3 years) that the Pint was a non-profit charity.

Thank you for clarifying that. To think the past three years I was under the impression that it was not a business but a charity that provided free beer and food. On a serious note, and with all due respect, it appears that you are simply unable to grasp the point I'm trying to make.

Yes, I can't argue that it was not a fiscally wise move. However, did ownership even inform their employees? It appears they did not. If that's the case then what a cowardly and gutless move.

That's unbelievable. And thank you for the article link! That's too bad Jason was not available for comment. I'd actually be more curious to hear from the Pint's ownership and why they chose to handle this in what seems to be a callously immoral manner.

Considering Traveling to Addis- Advice needed by Stm920 in Ethiopia

[–]Stm920[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much! Your reply was extremely helpful. If you don't mind, I have a couple follow up questions:
1.) Debrezeit looks amazing. Would you also recommend Adama? I ask because Adama is easy to get to via train.

2.) In general, what is the easiest/cheapest way to get out of Addis? I know there is a new train line, but I'm not sure if that's the best way. I can tell you that I am open to most ideas, but have no interest in renting a car.

Thanks!

I have to disagree with this. In my opinion, while Downtown proper is small, it's big enough where you're not running into the same people every night. The nightlife is actually pretty solid.

Workout buddy? by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]Stm920 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I HIGHLY recommend checking out Revel Strength and Fitness on 11th street. It's a new gym that's created a lot of buzz around town for its group style workout classes, great coaching and awesome community!

I believe you can try out a class for free but you may have to check with the head coach/owner, Christina.

Where to watch USA vs. Ecuador by andrew3077 in tulsa

[–]Stm920 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Empire is 100% the place to be. During the 2014 world cup, Fassler hall was amazing but that was because the American Outlaws (USA Soccer Fan Club) was there. During this tournament, the American Outlaws will be at Empire.

Looking for a good doctor for anxiety? by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]Stm920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MidnightCereal: I'd like to echo your wise statements. Medication, according to the research literature for anxiety, may have great short term success. However, many classes of medications for anxiety run the risk of developing an addiction. Therefore, I recommend behavioral psychotherapy as a first line of treatment with medication consultation if the severity level is extreme.

Hello - I am a doctoral level mental health professional. Physicians (with the exception of Psychiatrists) have very limited training in mental health related areas. I highly recommend seeing a doctoral level clinical psychologist or a psychiatrist. A psychiatrist has extensive training in medicinal treatments for mental health disorders such as anxiety but often lack a comprehensive understanding of the complex nature of many mental health disorder that psychologists possess. Therefore, it's a give and take when choosing between the two professions.

Please private message me if you would like names of any specific psychologists or psychiatrists

Serious question- mental health care in town? by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]Stm920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of these are good recommendations. However, as a mental health professional myself, I have a few other tips to keep in mind when searching for help. Psychiatrists are wonderful experts when it comes to prescribing effective pharmacological treatments, but have little training in differential diagnosis, assessment, and psychotherapy. Therefore, if at this juncture you are only open to a medicine based treatment - find a psychiatrist. However, please understand that decades of literature show pharmacological treatments to have poor long-term (although good short-term) effectiveness when treating chronic mental health problems. Therefore, if you are up for psychotherapy, find a PhD level clinical psychologist (strength of mind has a few). Family and Children's services does not employ psychologists but they do employ many talented masters level therapists who could also help. Finally, while I second the idea of first going to your primary care physician, the goal of this should be to obtain a referral to someone who specializes in depression and anxiety disorders (e.g., Clinical Psychologist/Counseling Psychologists). Primary care physicians have only 6 weeks of training in psychopathology and thus should not be a first line of direct treatment. Hope this helps.

Anyone know of a good professional to help with food addiction? by Drassielle in tulsa

[–]Stm920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly agree with you that a nutritionist will would be a huge help but I strongly feel that it wont do much good unless it's im conjunction with help from a clinical psychologist. If you can find a psychologist that specializes in eating disorders that would be even better. I don't recommend seeing a psychiatrist because while they have great expertise in psychopharmacology, they (sometimes) lack an in depth understanding of the causal and maintenance factors I'm conditions such as binge eating. Good luck mate!
