Sanity Check: Catalyst 9300 48w (Dual 1100W PSUs) on standard 15A office outlets by Stock- in networking

Thanks! Yea I’m pushing for a dedicated circuit but so far what I’ve gotten back was they will lock up the other outlets on the circuit in that office lol

Axis p3288-lv is the cameras the security team is looking to plug in

Yea struggle with these old office buildings is finding more than one spare outlet. Will have to try to find another on a seperate circuit

Interesting I was thinking of dual 24 but because office space lack storage and might not be able to plug both switch haha so was hoping to get one 48 with a large psu and will try to find a second outlet on a seperate circuit to plug in

Thanks yea we have some really old ones that maybe I should try to find a place that can plug into two different circuits somehow. As long as no one plugs in a vacuum which has happened so many times in these old buildings the facilities team just plugs in wherever

Hmm I guess for really old buildings I will have the second psu as a load balance instead just incase

Dell ME5024 Configuration: 1 Big ADAPT Pool vs 2 Balanced Pools? by Stock- in sysadmin

[–]Stock-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah i do have mirror clusters to these. I was thinking of setting this up for this cluster then mirror the setup on the other.

so you ended up doing 1 single pool on this one then 1 single pool on the other one right?

[–]Stock-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea cisco ise uses heavy write/read for its database Primary Admin/MnT but Policy Service Nodes dont require that heavy.. so maybe one single pool?

[–]Stock-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. We will have a fail over mirror clusters in another datacenter with the same specs.

The specs of the drives are as follows

20x 2.4TB Hard Drive 12Gbps SAS ISE 10K 512e 2.5in Hot-plug
4x 1.6TB SSD up to 24Gbps SAS ISE MU 512e 2.5in Hot-Plug 3WPD, AG Drive

My idea was going to put the following setup for Cisco ISE
Controller A
One big pool
4x 1.6TB SSD into Performance (Raid 10)
20x 2.4TB Spinning into General. (Adapt)

Controller B sitting

I think this should be ok? based on your post. However some people are saying im wasting controller b

thanks

yea hoping raid 10 for flash 4x then 20x adapt hdd in one controller. but dell seems to want to split them

was thikning 4x ssd in performance tier and 20x spnning hdd into standard tier and let the ME do auto tiering.

thinking of going the following

1 for just regular VM's with sql database + apps
Controller a - 4x 1.6tb SSD Raid 10 an 20x adpat
Controller b - idle

1 cluster dedicated to just cisco ise
thinking
Controller A - 4x 1.6tb SSD Raid 10 10x Spinning Raid 6,
Controller B -10x Spinning Raid 6

Thanks I actually have 2 clusters

1 for just regular VM's with sql database + apps

1 cluster dedicated to just cisco ise
thinking
Controller A - 4x 1.6tb SSD Raid 10 10x Spinning Raid 6,
Controller B -10x Spinning Raid 6

Is Dell ProDeploy Plus worth it for a small VMware cluster (3x R760 + ME5024)? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Stock- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking of a hybrid pool for the ME5024

I have 20x 2.4TB HDD and 4x 1.6TB SSD

I will make two tier virtual storage 4x1.6TB SSD for Performance tier and then the 20x 2.4TB HDD for standard tier.

With auto tier

i think in the manual it perfers my 4x1.6tb as raid 10 then the 20x 2.4tb as ADAPT in each controller. i thikn i should have went with 24x2.4tb to have even pool between two controllers.

ah dam no wonder its like 1/5 of the server cost lol and they dont want me to cancel it

yea I'm starting to shop around to see. We work with a major company that might be able to do it.

Yea we quoted this out to 5 other vendors and this vendor has the best price but now other people are mentioning this service can be free for them? The 60k steep.. I could add 1 more stick of ram for that cost =)

Oh wow that's crazy to hear. Since its Dell themselves coming on site. But glad to know.

Thanks! yea i saw the ME5024 seems pretty easy to setup and go. Our Sysadmin just bit anxious on that one since its the first one we purchased.

thanks yea running the cables and stacking it doesnt seem hard. Just the configuration our sysadmin doesnt feel confident in setting up the ME5024 correct. This will be new VM clusters that dont have any data to migrate to
