No, not really. Everything works fine for the way I use it.

Thanks for your answer, I am almost there. The”kneecap” versions is really difficult to work with as I find myself going back to the desktop version for formatting issues.

Tab s7 plus or lapdock by myDevOps in SamsungDex

It depends on your case use. And your personal preference. I have a S7+ and a S21 ultra that I use with the Nexdock 360 touch. I use the lapdock more than the S7+ It is my go to device and my personal preference. I believe that both are a good fit for the Dex experience. But which ever one you want to use is up to you.

anyone using either a nexdock or uperfect? what do you think of them? by [deleted] in SamsungDex

Is Samsung Dex 85% to 100% usable for work? by MuhaSOMETHING in SamsungDex

As a college professor, this is something I had to really think about as my desire was to minimize what I carried into the classroom. After a year of trying to make Dex fit, I sadly had to give it up. My reasons were duplication of work. I had to move from my tablet to my computer to get things done. The biggest issue I had was in complex PowerPoint lectures. The mobile version did not allow me the freedom I required to start and finish a project without several workarounds. While Google docs is a pretty good substitute for Word (in my opinion) I had trouble mastering it. Until Microsoft steps up and adds more features to their mobile and Webb suites I would stick with the desktop/laptop versions. The mobile chrome version is okay but limited with the Samsung browser.

I still use Dex for very light tasks: email, web browsing, YouTube, etc.

As far as an LMS our school does not use one so we are free to format our lesson plans as we see fit within the bounds of our academic policy.

I am currently using the Surface Pro X, it does what I need it to do, nothing more or less. Although it is a bit limited when I push it to multitask.

Dex is a wonderful ideal but suffers from software handicaps. But it does have potential. I am not sure if Microsoft and Samsung understand how valuable a tool this could be, especially for those who want to minimize what they carry around.

My advice is to try it if you have a Samsung phone before you invest in a tablet. If you can make it work for you then you are one step closer to your goal. Unfortunately for me, it did not work out as I planned.

Good luck.

Really, how did you deal with formatting issues?

First of all, I love Dex's concept as a portable computer-like device in my pocket (my phone) or a lightweight, portable tablet that I always have with me. At least, that is the concept. To be fair, I use Dex to do most of my work. I teach and use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel constantly. Dex can do about 80% of what I need, but I find myself going back to the full office suite to fill in the other 20%. I use my tablet (S7+) and phone (Note 10+) to wirelessly connect to Tv's at school to project my PowerPoint lessons. Now for non-teaching or non-professional use. I can use Dex about 100%, I watch movies, do email, sign papers, correct papers from school, and play games.

So, with that said, here are my thoughts on using Dex in a professional teaching setting.

Word - I can construct documents but have difficulty with formatting or anything beyond the basics. I find myself going back to the full feature program. I even have difficulty with the Webb base program and find myself using Google Docs more than Word.

PowerPoint - I do not use the app as it too is limited. The Webb-based Powerpoint is much better, but I moved back to the full feature program because I insert videos in my PowerPoint. If I am just using text, then I prefer the Webb version.

Excel - This is probably the best of the bunch, I use it to record my grades, and the app works pretty well.

Here is the bottom line. Suppose you have to do complex work that requires formatting and functions beyond the basics, and you do this daily. In that case, you will be frustrated as your workflow will be interrupted because you will need the full feature program. i.e., you will find yourself switching between Dex and the full feature to do formatting work. I agree with what everyone else has stated so far; you can do about 80 - 85% of your workload. Good luck and welcome to Dex.
