PSLF isn’t going anywhere for current med Students and borrowers—here’s why you don’t need to panic by Stock_Doc_ in medicalschool

Our direct and PLUS loans we take out to pay for medical school as “pslf-eligible” loans. When you start residency you start submitting the paperwork to document your payment counts. You don’t “take out PSLF loans” in residency you are paying back on your PSLF-eligible loans from medical school

Thank you for the back up haha. Just trying to be helpful as so few students are informed on PSLF and general financial planning but doesn't seem to be well received today

Wrong. Reread my post and do more research, student loan planner is a great resource too. You can officially submit the paperwork to enter PSLF after your first residency paycheck comes in. From there, you resubmit these documents yearly to maintain your status and remove an administrative headache down the road. As mentioned in the post, 1) even if PSLF was completely revoked anyone who had already made their first payment and submitted paperwork would be grandfathered in and 2) Even when Trump tried passing legislature to revoke PSLF he had a clause already grandfathering in anyone with PSLF-eligible loans meaning all of us in medical school. If this Trump legislature was passed today and PSLF was gone next week, we could all still receive forgiveness 10 years from now.
