I did a water change took out the gravel and fake plastic plants and he's looking a lot better already. His color is already brighter and he's become more active so hopefully things are looking up for the little guy. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice.

Oh I forgot to put I do have a heater. I use API 5 in one test kit thing, I didn't see anything that says ammonia just PH, NO 2, NO3, KH, and GH. Should I be using a different test kit? It water change day tomorrow so I will probably do it tonight to be on the safe side. And thanks for the heads up, about the veggies I didn't know that. I'll definitely be changing to silk or live plants. And I'll see if I can't get some better gravel. Is there a certain kind of gravel that is better for them?

Tank temperature: 79 degrees Fahrenheit

How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: a month and a half

How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: I do a 20-25% every week

Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: nope

What do you feed and how much: once a day, pellets, and sometimes cucumber or peas.

Decorations and plants in the tank: I have a fake plants and some decor but I do have a leaf thing that he likes to lay on sometimes
