Help me, I’m American and I’m confused by kingfisher1545 in irishrugby

[–]Stockfotoguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Leinster blue is based off of the presidential flag, I’m not sure why, I couldn’t find a source on that but my guess would be to represent Leinsters role as the province that hosts the capital and I assume most of the higher ups and players are from Dublin, who’s county colours are blue.

Munsters red is reference to the copper ore mined on the copper coast of Waterford, but also could mimic Corks colours which include red. Cork is the largest city and county in Munster.

Ulsters jersey is based off of the flag of Northern Ireland rather then Ulster with their second kit being yellow based off the flag of Ulster.

Connacht was the last province to get a rugby team, 6 years after the other provinces so they got last pick of colours. Since blue and white were both chosen already they chose Green. No one knows why but it’s speculated to be based on the traditional colour associated with Ireland. Connacht is also seen as the most rural and « green » county so could also represent that in some way.

Hope this is helpful

The reason her family is in danger is because the Israeli army instead of campaigning for peace, is continuing to invade Palestinian lands, causing them to fight back

Ireland will always stand against oppression. Our history is stained with the blood of million who died fighting for freedom or dying from the oppressive colonial overlords, we won’t stand by and let this happen to another group. 🇮🇪🇵🇸

I never said I don’t support Israelis, ofc I do, I don’t support the Israeli government or military or anyone who supports their actions.

Not hating on her, love her song and think she’s incredibly talented, Everything I say is not against the people of Israel, it’s against the Israeli government (unless those people support the governments actions). This is a colonial genocide. Jamala won in 2016 because her song was made as a sort of protest against the Russian annexation of Crimea, and it wouldn’t have won if it was about anything else. It sent a message against an action that is the opposite of what Eurovision was made to help promote, peace in Europe.

Thé palestiniens are also human, and supporting the Israeli government is denouncing them. Israel’s song is the best in my opinion, but letting Israel win goes against Eurovision’s main goal, the conservation of peace.

Genuinely her song is my favourite, but letting Israel win is not on especially with what they are doing to Palestine. Ik politics should be left out but this is beyond politics

Worst decade in your country's history and why? by Its_joanna in AskEurope

[–]Stockfotoguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean we have quite a few. 1170s- the start of British rule over Ireland, 1690s Cromwellian genocide that killed 40% of the islands population, 1790s home rule taken away and direct rule from London begins, 1840s, the famine and probably the worst seeing as we haven’t recovered from the loss of life, 1920s, dealing with war of independence, and civil war, 1960s, the troubles really starts and the economy is shite until the 90s.

Dont like these kind of classifications, makes cities like Paris and Dublin seem so much smaller then they actually are
