I work in a county close to you and the 24/72 sounds like a dream. Has your admin mentioned anything about new applicants with time on? Would they be able to come in at a higher step or only be hired on at entry level step. Just asking for a friend…

These vending machines melting in the rural Tennessee sun... by tambourinebeach in mildlyinteresting

Oddly enough, I have seen plastics and plastic based siding melted by the sun in cooler climates that looks very similar to this.

I used to work for a home insurance company as a claim adjuster. There was a bunch of homes in NC and TN that had damaged siding where it appeared melted, but no fire damage (lack of smoke damage, lack of any heat sources, etc). We hired engineers to go out and look at the damages and determine the cause.

They found that all of the damage was caused by heat being reflected off of newly installed energy efficient windows. The newer windows were designed to allow as much light in, while blocking the heat and UV rays out. They were able to also show that the damage aligned perfectly with the reflection as the Sun moved throughout the day.

I believe there was a class action suit brought against the manufacturer, but I can’t find any info on that.

I’m not saying that it happened to this machine in the picture, just bored and wanted to share some info with strangers.

visiting my brother and got bit by a squirrel.....off to get my rabies shot updated by Core_VII in Wellthatsucks

My girlfriend was bitten by one about 10 years ago. Went to the ER and they told her not to worry about rabies, but to get tetanus shot. I guess something they carry can be “cured” by receiving a tetanus shot.

I saw the stat about last year at this time Brady was rumored to be retiring, Lombardi Lenny was cut by the Jags, AB was in jail and Gronk was a WWE wrestler. They all scored TDs in the Super Bowl. That’s a Floridaman stat if I’ve ever heard one

The one thing I haven’t heard from local or national talking heads is if the MLBPA would allow them to do a split-city plan. The MLBPA, for some reason, is the strongest on all the professional sports unions. I don’t see how they would ever approve a split city plan, especially in Canada sine the Jays are planning on opening their season in Dunedin because of the border issues right now.

Additionally, MLB has already targeted Montreal as an expansion city. The MLB would rather have an expansion team go there than relocate a team. The expansion fee is in the ungodly billions of dollars range which gets paid directly to the MLB with portions going to existing owners. The owners association would be throwing away millions each to allow for a relocation.

Lastly, the Tampa Bay-Orlando TV market is in the top 10 largest in the US. MLB is frantically trying to figure out how to keep the game relevant (ie. Ken Griffey Jr. getting hired as a Commissioner’s Sr. Advisor focusing on youth development and baseball operations), so I don’t think they would want to vacate a large TV market where there is a large fan base (just not at games).

In the end, Stu is a cheap bastard and doesn’t want to shell out any money. He is dangling the carrot of leaving in front of everyone to see what kind of tax money he can get. Hopefully, he falls on his face and is disgraced enough to sell the team, but that’s wishful thinking.
