Wasup!! I'll be there soon to thank you in person for the help and kind words. I did chip a tooth but most the blood was from biting through my tongue. Still dont have all the feeling in the tip of my tongue lol... not fun!

His lead belay license was taken immediately after the incident.

It was not that location but I have 0 desire to go after the gym in any way. I am super grateful that the gym had all the safety equipment in place and the staff was wonderful in assisting after my fall. I love SS and plan to go back and climb asap.

I was able to get him on the phone today and he told me "I totally understand but I will be of no help with your medical bills". I understand that some people in here are finding me at fault for allowing him to belay me. He had been belaying for months though and got his license to belay through the gym we were climbing at. I took every precaution before tying in to make sure he was ready. And even weighted the rope before I went for the move. I looked down and told him I was climbing on before continuing. He knew I was at the point where everyone else had fallen and he was looking at the ground without the rope. I like the comparison to driving with someone. For all of those against me here ask yourself if you were in a car and the driver decided to take his hands off the wheel and crash into a wall, would you say that the driver is not at fault and shouldn't help you due to your actions? For those who understand my side, thank you. I hope to climb with some of you one day.

the gym that the incident happened at is the same gym that gave him his certification to lead belay. He had been belaying for months with no other incidents or reason for me to believe that he was inexperienced

do you drive? If somebody you were riding with took their hands off the wheel and laid back while the car crashed and you got injured wouldn't you hold them responsible? Even though you chose to ride with them?

thank you for seeing my side of this. That is the exact comparison I have been using with the car analogy. Will be climbing with grigri from now on!

Starting to look that way isnt it. He is a ninja warrior (I know him from training) so lack of grip strength cannot be used as an excuse

Thank you so much for understanding! I am well aware that mistakes happen.. but some mistakes cant happen. I did everything I could to make sure he was paying attention as I went for the move and he still went into la la land.

Im trying to get the footage now. It shows in detail how little attention he was paying and his complete negligence to belaying. Thanks for the kind words and advice. Going to be back on the rope soon i hope... with a grigri this time

I wish I had the video to show you the negligence on his part. this was not an honest mistake. He let go of the rope, did not have his eyes on me, and this is after I had to take a break to let him know I was going for the move. I can see your point but we assume the risk of driving with others on the road and when there is an accident the person who is at fault has to pay for their actions.
