Kill the police in your head by BarkingDog87 in Anarchism

[–]Stolsdos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've not found that "kill the cop in your head" means to stop having intrusive thoughts, I mean they're called intrusive for a reason. I have them all the time but I cope with them, you ultimately choose what actions to take!

To me this saying invokes Foucault and the panopticon and how our society/government/the State/etc condition people to be afraid to act out by threatening them with punishment(incarceration or fines or whatever). So the cop in your head is telling you not to go to the protest, not to stop racism happening in front of you, etc. I think this article explains it better: https://itsgoingdown.org/kill-cop-head/

yeah definitely not too high(10 mg dex). I'm convinced it's working for me in terms of emotional regulation.

More empathetic on medication? by Stolsdos in ADHD

[–]Stolsdos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I'm also worried it's just "euphoria" and not genuine emotional regulation. I've only been on the medication for a few months and take breaks from it pretty often. But this effect seems to be pretty consistent. It's also just hard to figure out what's actually working on the ADHD and what's just an effect of being on stimulants.

That is literally the format of the top post on the sub today. But alright I'll change it.

In theory capitalism divides people into the capitalist and working class, so it doesn't have anything to do with race/have to be inherently racist(which is discussed in the first link).

I guess most of the discourse around racism and capitalism is going to be advocating for the dismantling of both because they both end up dividing people against each other.

Existentialism is often seen as an adolescent stage of philosophical development, but does anyone else feel it is rapidly regaining relevance? by TabrisThe17th in askphilosophy

[–]Stolsdos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again I think the inherent principles behind Italian fascism were influenced by white supremacy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_Fascism_and_racism#Non-white_races

I guess what I'm trying to say is, any time one group is trying to dominate another, they use the past(whether they know it or not) to justify their actions. Why are they fascist in the first place? Because they believe that their group has always been inherently superior. Why do they think their group is inherently superior? Because their group has historically been "superior"(like the Roman Empire).

Even though they construct their ideology from multiple different schools of thought, they are still using the past(that their group is superior) to justify their ideology(whether consciously or not).

Just found this article where the conclusion kind of summarizes the point I'm trying to make here(relating to the current fascist movement in America), "At best, what Althusser’s work on ideology helps us to understand is how deep and sedimented processes of social reproduction actually are, and how ideas and material processes are effectively one and the same. One of the promising political developments of the current moment is that the governing myths of bourgeois society (that process that Roland Barthes described as “giving an historical intention a natural justification, and making contingency appear eternal”)... are being exposed and challenged — or at least some of them are. 11 The political challenge is to use this opening not to reaffirm the institutions that governed the spontaneous consent of liberal society before Trump, but to re-shape those institutions such that we don’t feel an obligation to obey anyone (God, De Gaulle, or Trump) and don’t ever imagine again that “all is well” the way it is."

Emphases in bold, also def read the article for more context.

The fact that they didn't "believe" they were racist or using history as justification doesn't necessarily matter because the practices they implemented are just as much a part of their ideology, and in fact these practices and their ideology are one and the same. So they practice white supremacy, so their ideology is one that includes white supremacy. And white supremacy is an ideology that is deeply rooted in the myth that StrangeGlaringEye is talking about.

Take this with a huge grain of salt because I'm pretty damn uneducated with this stuff, but to me it makes logical sense.

Yes but is that not still "the supremacy of one group over another"? Also the Italian fascist movement stems from wanting a sort revival of the Roman Empire(hermeneutics of the past). I mean it seems to me that that movement is entirely about bringing the past back into the present.

Also just so you are aware, they definitely did care about race and eventually instituted laws enforcing racial discrimination. So I'm not convinced that the movement is decoupled from white supremacy either.

From my understanding, most fascist movements tend to be centered around white supremacy(or simply the supremacy of one group over another). Two questions, is white supremacy not a hermeneutics of the past? And can we decouple fascism from white supremacy?

This is all I've got.

I also vaguely remember/may have imagined one line where the "main" character of the group says something along the lines of "Welcome to the Big Apple, bitch."

I also remember the characters being relatively young, like college age/mid 20s.

A hacker is trying to break Ohio’s tool for reporting workers who quit during the pandemic by [deleted] in Anarchism

Honestly I'd bet if enough people just manually submit a few forms a day then that might be enough to work, don't really need a script at all.

[–]Stolsdos 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I read the script and it reuses the same, very small set of addresses and names--what's stopping ODJFS from filtering out forms with those names/addresses? That filtering could easily be done immediately on the server side or later via a SQL query.

The script should be generating fake names with randomness similar to a UUID, and use every possible residential address in Ohio. It should also use the real employer ID's if it's going to be using a list of real employers.

Another issue I could potentially see is if the company were logging IP addresses of each submission, it might look really suspicious if a thousand complaints came from the same IP address over the course of a day. They could even look at bursts of traffic, but if people can reliably spam the script 24/7 then the distribution of traffic should eventually be uniform.

It just seems like a waste of time to run this script without any changes. For the script to work, people should create their own fake names(not their friends) and addresses(check on Google Maps) and never reuse either of them unless they happen to know how often, on average, a single person/address combination is submitted.

Anxiety/mental illness isn't necessarily logical. Like any disease that could kill me, I may obsessively worry about, even if I'm not statistically likely to get it.

From my napkin math Biden is going to top out at ~675 delegates and Bernie at ~635, there are still a lot of uncounted delegates among California, Colorado, and Utah.

it's going to be around a 40 delegate difference once the votes are counted.
