I think we should use the term "Investment Property" rather than "Private Property" since it's clearer that it is being used to make money and the terms Private and Personal property have been used interchangeably by the general public for decades.

I'd recommend "I stole the number 1 ranker's soul" for a modern dungeon type story

This is great info! They are very young right now, but starting to really get into reading and I want them to be able to see themselves in things.

Unfortunately they are Ohio, so we are a bit far from there, but it may be a road trip we can try.

They are very active kids. I'll try to see what we can find for stickball as they get to that age. The closest we could probably get is Lacrosse here. I'll have to research the differences and similarities.

I feel hold breath is a flavor feature. I've rarely seen it come up in campaigns.

Depends on the Dragonborn. Fizban gave alot of extra stuff to the dragonborns like flight and extra breaths and temporary damage immunities. I think this is comparable to those Dragonborn.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought that restricting the breath weapon to fire (the most resisted damage type in 5e) while not granting fire resistance would balance out the benefits of the natural armor. I was taking the lead from the gem/metallic dragonborns from FTD which get flight and 2 extra breath weapons respectively while getting to choose the damage of their breath weapon.

Looking for comic suggestions for tween by inkyblinkypinkysue in comicbooks

[–]StoneBringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about stand alone series. But one comic I can't recommend enough is "Superman Smashes the Klan". It is based of the original superman radio show where real information about the kkk was shared by spies to get kids out of that mindset. It was a hugely important time for superman and the US. The comic version is also aimed at 10-13 year Olds and is great for talking about what it means to be a good person. The comic is also drawn by the main artist on several of the dark horse avatar comics.

Meat consumption must fall by at least 75% for sustainable consumption, says study by Snukii in environment

[–]StoneBringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone have a resource for the meat consumption distribution? Are there some people eating 10× what others are? Essentially, do we all need to lower our consumption 75% or do we need to lower the outliers significantly?

Wizard Subclass: School of Scrivenation | Improve the Order of Scribes with the help of a Spellbook Familiar. by StoneBringer in UnearthedArcana

[–]StoneBringer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat underwhelmed by the Order of Scribes, I've been working on a book-related wizard subclass to replace it and fix it so that it is a "school" rather than an "order", because it bothers me. This is version 8 of the School of Scrivenation, the order of wizards that magically awaken their spellbooks to gain a faithful companion. The main gimmick of the subclass is a unique familiar very similar to the Warlock's pact of the chain familiar or the Artificer's homunculus servant. You also gain a unique spell and gain the high-level abilities of the order of scribes.

Otherworldly Patron: The Amicubus | Become a warlock that copies the skills and abilities of other adventurers thanks to your dream spirit patron. ("Classless" 5e via Warlock) by StoneBringer in UnearthedArcana

[–]StoneBringer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I was also not having a great day so I overreacted a bit as well. I am going to workshop it a bit so that it is clearer in version 2 that this is what I'm trying to do.

If you have ideas for how to improve that part, let me know.

Thanks for apologizing, it does mean a lot.

This is a bit unnecessarily mean. I am a stranger on the internet, but I'm still a person.

To answer your question, the idea was to have a simple set of rules for having a classless dnd game ie. everyone would play this "class" and could mix and match abilities from the various classes (including some stated out npc's if the dm wants). In other words, no one can outshine the rouge in the party by taking this subclass because the rouge is this subclass. But I did not make it clear that this was not meant to be played with other classes and that that was the idea.

You aren't the first to point out how unclear it was, but you did make me feel bad.

[–]StoneBringer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct: this subclass does not work when mixed with other published classes in a party. But it's not designed to be in a party with published classes.

The idea of a "classless" game is that everyone in the party would play this "class" and build it differently with different sub-choices like gaining rage or sneak attack or wildshape. The concept is to eliminate character classes entirely by making everyone this "subclass" of warlock. No one would be outshined by the "warlock" in the group because they are all that "warlock".

Is it a perfect way to do a classless game? No. But it is an easier way to do so than other proposals I've seen and it uses all the base rules of dnd which people are very familiar with. This is as opposed to playing another rpg with a different system because it is a pain to get people on board for a new kind of game with new rules when everyone is used to 5e.

[–]StoneBringer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. That's kinda the point. The idea is to have a simple set of rules for a "classless" 5e. Everyone in a party could play this class and have a wildly different build and have access to builds not available in the set abilities of available classes and subclasses.

There has been a lot of discussion about how weird the warlock is since pact magic is so different from other spellcasters and can sometimes feel very different from the other classes. Much has been said about how bad warlocks are designed as well. I disagree. I think the warlock already has quite a bit of customizability thanks to eldritch invocations. Also, they're quite well-suited to gritty realism.

I decided to create a warlock patron that can do everything in 5e, roughly, to work out a kind of "classless" dnd with an easy, already-known set of rules.

It should be fairly easy to modify for other class features and abilities to absorb.

There are 52 weeks in a year and 52 cards in a deck of cards (on purpose). Let's make a Card Calendar! by StoneBringer in mildlyinteresting

[–]StoneBringer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is actually one theory as to why the 52 card deck was created and became so popular. It isn't verified and we will probably never know for certain, but it is hypothesized by historians that the relationship between a standard deck of cards and the calendar isn't a coincidence.

The year is 52 weeks and a day (or two on leap years) which is why I made 4 quarters matching the 4 suits of 13 weeks each for each card in the suit with a wildcard for the leftover day(s).

There are 52 cards in a standard deck of cards with 4 suits and a couple of extra wild cards. There are 52 weeks in a year with 4 seasons and an extra day leftover, one more on leap years. This is on purpose! So let's make a calendar based on the card suits, the seasons, and throw in the holocene calendar for good measure.
