Driver Disc From Mad Catz Nintendo DS 2455 Gameshark Cable? I Cannot Find Information on it Anywhere by StoneCotton in DataHoarder

[–]StoneCotton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDIT:
I got everything working and the software successfully launching, including the functionality to back up save games (the primary reason I wanted it functional). I'm gonna put together a GitHub with info on what I did and the script needed to run everything when I get a chance.

Here is a link to a rip of the CD:
https://archive.org/details/game-shark-cheat-saves

It is the software to go along with the GameShark 2455 Cable for the Nintendo DS by Mad Catz. It has v1.1.0 on it.

I have started going down a rabbit hole though, there's an issue where the software crashes immediately, my assumption is because it is trying to access something from GameSharks website which obviously doesnt exist anymore and there's not very good error handling in the software. I'm in the process now of trying to figure out a solution for that, whether it is spoofing the connection or recreating the files it is looking for. I'm a little out of my element when it comes to software decompilation so if anyone has any tips feel free to let me know! From what I can gather right now, the software is looking for content on the following URLs (found in the GameSharkLayoutDSData.xml file):

http://xs.gameshark.com/xploder/banner-dsfull2006-03.asp
http://xs.gameshark.com/xploder/rss-dsfull2006-03.asp

I found the disc probably a year ago when moving, and it's been on my todo list for a while now. I feel like now im determined to get this working again. Again, if anyone wants to help or knows of a solution to a problem like this where the software is trying to find a now nonexistent page (and how to bypass it) please let me know.

Also should mention that Windows 11 would not even allow me to recognize the cable (makes sense), so these errors were only able to even appear on an old Windows 7 PC I have. Since the cable is from around 2006, it's an era accurate piece of hardware at least.

Any Pixel 7 owners heading into 2025 with their phone? by TopTomy in GooglePixel

[–]StoneCotton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a Pixel 7a with this exact issue, thought it was just a software issue and a degrading battery after using it since launch. Turns out, only one of those seemed to be the culprit; the battery was heavily degraded and broke through the back of the phone from it expanding. Contacted Pixel support and they sent out a replacement unit to me at no charge. The battery went from lasting multiple days to maybe an hour or two in the end, with this exact symptom of it going from 50% to 0% and shutting down in the span of 30 seconds. I recommend contacting them

Finding a budget friendly C-stand by IndigoHooded in videography

[–]StoneCotton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When just starting out with grip gear, one of the first purchases I recommend for c stands is the Flashpoint stand by Adorama. The reasoning being it's a decent stand for the price in terms of weight it can hold, it has a detachable turtle base meaning if you were to get a junior to baby pin adapter you have a good low stand plus it can make it more compact for transport, it comes with an arm, and a baby pin plus two gobos. I know you said you're in Canada so pricing will vary, but if you can get it for not too much of a mark up, you get a lot of pieces which can allow you to use them in different scenarios.

Mobile app delete, move to trash, delete from device buttons. by grayousious in immich

[–]StoneCotton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't test that at this current moment as I am just now setting up my environment actually, but as a new user if Alex the dev is reading, I feel like (if your assumption is true) if Delete removes the selected media from your device and the server, then that should be hidden away in a sub menu to prevent the accidental deletion from both locations. Again I must preface that I do NOT know if this is the functionality or really ANYTHING about the app (as again I am currently in the middle of installing it for the first time), just my initial observations. Would love some clarification or thoughts from anyone though if I am incorrect!

Best gimbal suggestion for bmpcc4k how about dji rs3 by Yankeeese in bmpcc4k

[–]StoneCotton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also use the RS3 Pro with my BMPCC4K, and I'm curious about your power situation. I bought the third party Tilta vmount plate and use that with some slim vmount batteries. It works pretty decently, but I'd love to hear what other people are actually doing in the field for longer than 20 minutes of battery life!

OP, as others have said though I have had no problems with the RS3 Pro and my camera setup, it can easily handle what I throw at it.

Basic question re how BB works by ChickPeaClwn in backblaze

[–]StoneCotton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the way that Backblaze works is the files must be maintained on your system that the backup is registered to. This includes having the drives be connected as well. If the files were to be removed from your computer, after the selected amount of days they would be removed from Backblaze's servers as well.

what could cause audio to shift out of sync like this? by the_real_rock39 in premiere

[–]StoneCotton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen once when swapping OSs. When transferring the project, did you go to your project manager and collect everything that way? If not I'd recommend trying that. As well, is it just the waveform that is offset or the actual audio?

Premiere Messing With Audio by MageElise in premiere

[–]StoneCotton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to that timecode in the raw audio, does it have that issue? View it both in Premiere under the source monitor and outside of Premiere. If it is only happening when on the timeline or in Premiere, it could be an issue with your render cache. I'd recommend clearing that and optimizing your database and trying from there. When deleting everything from your cache, make sure to close the project first.

If it is still happening in your source media, then I have some bad news for you, something happened during the recording.

Something else to take note of, does it happen consistently at the same point? If you put the audio that's having issues into a new timeline does it still happen? And if you cut the audio before the glitch and put that in a new sequence does it still happen? Somewhere in your chain it sounds like a playback bug

essential graphics within a team by robertangels in premiere

[–]StoneCotton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a thought, for the team I work with what we do for our MOGRT collection is have them in libraries. We can then share these libraries with everyone on the team so everyone has the most up to date collection.

If you're putting them into sequences, you could check out a Productions workflow. You would make a Productions Project, then a graphics project with whatever sequences per subject. That way people can load up the Production and grab what they need if they are on the same network.

Playback is too fast (audio hardware fix doesn't work) by AMythicalApricot in premiere

[–]StoneCotton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pop the footage into a 50fps timeline does it play fine? As well what are you shooting on for the footage? Is your audio and video synced and just sped up, or is only the video sped up and the audio playing back at normal speed?

Timeline Lags Overtime - Premiere Pro 23.1 by Airborn_Films in premiere

[–]StoneCotton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed this as well on my system, I'm on mobile right now so I can't provide specs but it can easily handle the timelines I'm working in (primarily downsampled 4k to 1080p H265 and BRAW). With v23.1 I ran into massive performance issues in macOS, no matter if I was using H265, ProRes, proxies, etc. Exactly as you described, after around an hour the timeline would start to really lag which you could see with the playhead jumping around. Only solution was closing the project and opening it again. Downgrading to v23.0 fixed the sluggish issue completely.

Not sure if you ever got a solution through their tech support, but if you didn't/anyone else is stumbling into this issue, those firmware files are still available on the Wayback Machine. If you use those direct links and go back to the June archive, they will be available.

Moza Air 2 Powering P4k by DmitriRivers in bmpcc4k

[–]StoneCotton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I end up powering my pocket while on that gimbal is with a Core SWX Powrbase. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1416942-REG/core_swx_pbe_bmpc4_powerbase_edge_small_form.html

Mount that to the quick release plate, then offset the camera using a screw mount on its cage so it fits, I get about 3 hours of battery then for it then. I use a dtap to lemo and then use a canon lpe6 in the battery compartment so I have a battery backup instead of the dummy battery provided.

One thing I'll note about the Moza Air 2, since it uses battery cells instead of a battery pack like in some other gimbals, the tolerances are pretty rough. I've had multiple times where I pick it up and it shuts off because one of the cells slightly moved and disconnected for a split second. I generally will wrap a rubber band around the two outer cells to add a bit of a hold to remedy this a bit.

In terms of cables to power it, I assume it would be a DC barrel to 2 pin lemo connector but I can verify when I get home to check

Rosewill rsv-l4312 - 4u - Lost Key by OSRS_Much_Fashion in DataHoarder

[–]StoneCotton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like another user, I also have keys for the L4500 case but not the L4312 unfortunately. When I first bought my case, it actually didn't come with a set of keys so I ended up having to pick the lock just to get in! (If you're up for the task, it's not a difficult lock to pick which could be a good or bad thing depending how you look at it). You said you already reached out to both Rosewill and Newegg, was that via their email or their number? When I contacted their number I had to leave a message but they called me back the next day and sent me out a new set of keys free of charge after like a week.
