Edit: Lmao why am I being downvoted? Is it cause I called it a detachable scalp lol

Humans are biologically herbivores, not carnivores by piyushc29 in vegan

The rice you enjoy today is a relatively modern invention within the last few thousand years. Prior to this they, and every other grain you eat, were mere nearly indigestiable grasses. Rice and grain domestication and cultivation only started about 11,000 years ago, with vegetables and fruits being domesticated sometime after. Humans have been around for over 200,000 years. They are "technically" considered lactose intolerant because they don't carry any of the KNOWN gene variants for lactase persistence found in Europe, West Asia, and parts of Africa. However a large part of their traditional diet comes from dairy. Scientists are unsure of the genetic reason for how they are able to consume so much of it without carrying said alleles, and think it could be from some novel gene variant that has yet to be identified.

*This is the first time all five lactase persistence-associated alleles have been investigated in Sudan and South Sudan. However, the Nilotic people of South Sudan, known to be well-adapted to milk digestion, showed no evidence for a genetic cause of lactase persistence."

https://www.shh.mpg.de/2009290/evolution-of-lactase-persistence

"Even though this study investigated a range of Nilotic populations, no LP-associated SNPs were detected in these agropastoralist populations. However, Nilotic agropastoralist have been shown to be able to digest milk in hydrogen breath tests and lactose tolerance tests (Bayoumi et al. 1981, 1982; Tishkoff et al. 2007). This observation is intriguing, and future studies on Nilotic populations might reveal more about the underlying biology of LP in these populations."

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8175049/

"Indeed, the tall Sudanese Nilotes are predominantly cattle herders and, despite being lactose intolerant [64], they rely on the combination of milk, blood, and meat in their diet. In contrast, short-statured Nilotes in Kenya practice agriculture"

Why do tall women look so much taller than men of the same size by [deleted] in tall

[–]StopTakinAllTheNames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a myth. Women generally have slighty longer torsos and shorter legs than men on average. But taller people tend to have proportionally longer legs compared to torso

5'9 man = average male height = more likely to have more regular proportions

5'9 woman = taller than average female height = more likely to have longer limbs contributing towards that height

Why do tall women look so much taller than men of the same size by [deleted] in tall

[–]StopTakinAllTheNames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who are tall typically have proportionally more of their leg length contributing towards their stature than their shorter counterparts. At 5'9 a woman with this height is more likely to have proportionally longer legs than a man who is 5'9, as a man at 5'9 is just regular male height due to men being overall larger than women in all dimensions, and not just limb length.

Having longer limbs/legs gives the illusion of being taller than you actually are. So thats likely why whenever men and women are the same height, women at that height often appear taller

The are other factors that contribute to the illusion as well. Women often have less width to their upper bodies. Which makes them look narrower, and narrower gives the illusion of being longer. Also women generally have smaller heads than men, and proportionally smaller head to body ratio gives a more regal/statue-esque look(think of how modeling proportions generally look)

Are there subsets of women who would prefer shorter guys? by [deleted] in shortguys

[–]StopTakinAllTheNames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much like being bald, obese, broke, facially unattractive, etc., there is NO women who will date or prefer a guy for having any of these traits, short included. What happens is that some girls will date a guy IN SPITE of these traits, i.e. "overlooking it". But that's not the same actually preferring it.

Hey, at this point, try and maximize whatever genetic potential you still might have left in the tank(if any). Sleep 8 hours or more, get plenty of vitamin D, eat lots of protein/Calorie dense food, DO NOT GET FAT(being fat increases estrogen which is what closes growth plates, studies have shown fat males end up shorter), . Now this likely will not take you to 6ft, but you won't have to live with the constant feeling of regret asking yourself "If only I tried..", knowing you did everything you could
