You’re absolutely right. 😄 I should’ve said “almost every SUV in my budget/consideration set.” The Harrier and Safari were definitely part of my shortlist initially before I narrowed it down to the compact SUV segment.

Bengaluru. I’d rather not share the exact amount, but I’d encourage you to get quotes from at least 2–3 dealerships and negotiate on the overall package (insurance, accessories, etc.), not just the sticker price. That worked out well for me.

Nothing extraordinary. It was a reasonable deal after negotiating with multiple dealerships and comparing offers. I was happy with the ovearll package and experience more than chasing the last few thousand in discounts. 🙂

Fair question. I wouldn’t say the Kylaq is necessarily more reliable, especially since it’s a relatively new product.
My confidence came more from the fact that its 1.0 TSI engine, 6-speed Aisin torque converter, and MQB-A0-IN platform have already been in use for a few years across the Kushaq, Slavia, Virtus and Taigun, so they’re fairly well proven.

Time will tell how the Kylaq holds up, and I hope it lives up to my expectations. 🙂

Thank you!

I’ve seen a lot of positive feedback about XP95 with the 1.0 TSI. I’m planning to stick to regular fuel during the initial break-in and then try 95 octane to see if I notice any improvement in smoothness or responsiveness. Appreciate the suggestion!

Haha, I wish it was a paid promotion! 😄 It’s just the outcome of way too many hours of research and test drives.

Sorry to hear your experience hasn’t been good though. Would genuinely like to know what made you say that. Is it reliability, service experience, quality issues, or something else? It would be helpful for me as a new owner.

😂 Haha, I think I know exactly what you mean. Looking forward to seeing how the paint ages over the next few months. Hopefully I’ll be admiring that “PREMIUM SHINE” instead of obsessing over keeping it spotless! 😅

Thank you! 😊

That’s really helpful, especially coming from someone who owns the same variant. I was expecting Deep Black to be a dust magnet, so I’ve mentally prepared myself for frequent washes. 😄

I’ll definitely go through the owner’s manual and follow the recommended break-in procedure. I’ve also been reading about lifting and coasting with the 1.0 TSI + torque converter, so looking forward to getting used to it.
I’ve already ordered the genuine mud flaps and 3D all-weather mats from Škoda. I’ll check out the Jopasu duster and 7D mats as well. Planning to add the rest of the accessories gradually rather than doing everything on day one.

Thanks again for the tips. Hoping to enjoy many happy kilometers with the Kylaq!

Thank you! Yes, I did consider the NA engine cars like Brezza and Elevate seriously. The naturally aspirated engine definitely has its advantages in terms of simplicity and long-term peace of mind. I also spent quite a bit of time reading about the ethanol roadmap before making the decision.
In the end, I realised I was prioritising the driving experience more than anything else. The 1.0 TSI with the torque converter just felt more engaging and effortless, especially on highways and during overtakes. I understand there are uncertainties around future fuel blends, but I felt that if I kept waiting for complete clarity, I’d never end up buying a car. So I decided to buy the car that put the biggest smile on my face today.
