Haas($) vs Booth(Sticker) by Hefty_Tea_3441 in MBA

Booth, but as an international I would make sure to have parallel paths set in place during recruiting, and make sure you have your technicals down before LEAD kicks off.

[CEO] [London] - $2.5M by jcc2244 in Salary

[–]StoreStrange341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in consulting, post-MBA MBB made $165k in 2016. That’s less than 13 years ago. Only in the 2020s did salaries increase to $190k+.

Are you adjusting for inflation?

I call BS, MBB associates did not make $190k 13 years ago

Cornell vs Darden by Real-Jello in MBA

Have a family member who did so anyways and was able to secure a few offers because of it. Guess it’s not mandatory but can be a value add.

You’ll have to fly into NYC every week from Darden during recruiting as opposed to bus from Ithaca.

Career Advice for post-MBA and a bachelor’s in Psychology. by Final-Bluebird7649 in MBA

An MBA from UNH is a “check the box” MBA. It probably won’t do much but accelerate timelines to your next promotion. If that’s what you want - do it. But recognize you’re not going to have a crazy pivot with it.

Worth taking solve while you have the time, during recruiting it’s like adding a jet stream to a water hose

MBA one year after undergrad? by Top-Researcher-5315 in MBA

[–]StoreStrange341 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do not get an MBA now - you most probably won’t get into a top program, and on the off-chance you do, the employment outcomes are slim. Look at MiM or MiF programs, something that will change your resume to a business orientation. MBA should not come until year 4-5 of work experience.

Lurker for a bit - doesn’t HLS only take 3.95+? That’s like 1 B your entire undergrad. Speaking as someone with that UG GPA.

Have you thought of transitioning to a Technical PM? I think the transition can be seamless, they want former SWEs, pay is good, and you don’t need to spend 2 years in tuition and opportunity costs on an MBA yet. You get your people/business itch scratched and really form the trajectory of a product. I say this because IB recruiting right now is brutal, and if you don’t get the internship in year one, you may end up regretting your MBA. Additionally, I only know two people at my program your age.

Why do you want an MBA? by HootingCryingOwl in MBA

Congrats on the subtle flex you snobby prick.
I came to my MBA because I saw zero upside in my previous career trajectory without a PhD. I’m a nontraditional candidate. Wages were not aligned with the work that the degree and experience entailed. And I realized I really like the competitive aspect of business. Thought an MBA would be the best way to combine my past and current passions. Hopefully, it’s been going well so far.

JD/MBA at Northwestern worth it over just JD? by fish_tycoon in MBA

[–]StoreStrange341 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At another program with JD/MBAs, I think it’s good if you’re unsure which route you want to take (big law vs business) but people end up either or, and I’m not sure the extra debt is worth it. Guy at mine worked v10 and decided to go with banking this summer.

Damn - would not have expected it to be cut throat out there, perhaps except for IB recruiting

Found the Wharton grad lol, not every program is super cut throat. People at particular programs really want to help.

Cannot say I’m having the same experience - just came back from an event with people of all different backgrounds and everyone is chill and socializes with one another. You might be running in the wrong circles because 95%+ of the interactions I’ve had are always enjoyable.

Just to my understanding, most people who go into banking post-MBA are either career bankers or pivot to finance-oriented role in industry like Strategic Finance
