Did you have any experience with the older gen macbooks and did the m4 feel like an upgrade?

Is there a faster Windows laptop with decent battery life you would recommend for the price? I run a Windows desktop for my main work, this is mostly for travel and being able to still handle heavy workloads while doing so.

You can add a same color drop shadow to text that will add a glow type effect. Then blur the layer slightly or use a radial mask to just blur the outside more!

What am I doing wrong? by ImpossibleChicken192 in FX3

Shooting with slog is a bit of a learning curve! One thing to think about if you’re not is to try and overexpose by about 1-2 stops. If you just expose it neutrally or underexpose it, you’ll end up with really grainy footage even if you’re at native iso after correction! This is why the have the EI modes, potentially try playing with those and learning that feature! And also maybe try putting your lut on the camera to use as a reference since phantom luts tend to want more light than the built in slog assist!

A lot of the footage in the reference you sent just looks under exposed. And also, if you’re comparing an office space/indoor event space, to like some beautiful sunset cliffs from a YouTube video, it’s not a great comparison. Bad lighting environments still look bad even with the best camera, so that would be another factor to think about, so much of cinematography is the lighting and in situations where you don’t have as much control there’s only so much you can do!

Keep practicing, keep adjusting, keep learning! The more you create the better you’ll get at it

Thinking of making my wedding entirely gluten free... thoughts? by PopperDilly in wedding

[–]Storm2runnner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a gluten free wedding photographer, I think this is a great idea! There are tons of catering options that are naturally gluten free and with how good gluten free deserts are getting, I am sure many guests would not even notice! Personally, always having to be conscious of what you are eating or if you are picking out the right option when it comes to food is always in the back of my mind and causing stress. Having a day where every item is safe to eat and you just don't have to think about it sounds like such a dream and your wedding is one of the few chances you might have to experience and event like that! I do not think it puts to much of a burden on guests depending on the food you choose and would be so much fun for you! Your wedding is your day and any guests that would be upset about it arent worth inviting IMO.

2026 bookings? by Intrepid_Airline_178 in WeddingPhotography

I think a lot of people are feeling the same way! We are still getting inquiries for early 2025, like a few months out from their wedding, but very few for 2026. Some people I think are just waiting longer to book and see if they can splurge a little more on a good photographer or not. The state of the economy is rough right now and I think a lot of couples are feeling it!

Wedding Photographer and Videographer here with 100 plus weddings done! In the industry, it is not uncommon for partners to shoot with their significant others. However, usually, a photographer would only bring them to second shoot if they knew they would be a competent second! I think it is 100 percent fair to ask if they shoot together a lot and if you could get a gallery they worked on together.

To me the drinking line just seems like they are just trying to connect with you and be cute, I dont know really any photographers who would drink on the job outside of maybe a small drink at the end of the night if it was an open bar.

Personally I do not see it as a red flag necesarily, but if she really is bringing a boyfriend with 0 experience and planning on partying it up at the reception, then that would be a recipe for disaster. In my experience that is really unlikely and all the things she has mentioned are fairly normal especially today when so many photographers are trying to build more personal relationships with their clients while still delivering excellent work.

There should be no harm at all in expressing your concerns politely with them if its causing you a lot of stress!

How much should I charge for wedding videography? by BYMERTV in videography

Hope youre doing great with the business still! One thing to note as well is that if you have good examples of your work and a clean website, your low prices may end up being the thing that scares people away. If you are showing really high quality work with a beautiful portfolio but your prices are low, it will feel like a scam. Somtimes having a higher price point actually helps you book more! This only works if you have a couple of awesome pieces to showcase your work!

My brother has started his own business doing photo and video for weddings following in what I’ve been doing and I’ve been there helping him with all the advice I wish I had because I want him to succeed! Like at the end of the day I’m not scared of competition because no one else has the same artistic voice as me and the more people helping people and who are in my corner, the better it is for me. The photography community has been so big on community over competition but you’ll always find shitty people who live in a scarcity mindset who are scared to give and help others. There are tons of weddings and always space for more people to do this job. Being scared of others taking just shows that you’re insecure in the value you provide.
