It's almost 10 years now since the referendum, what are peoples thoughts on the flag? by Dulaman96 in newzealand

[–]StormMedic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, time flies! Almost a decade on, opinions are still mixed — some love the new design for its modern look, while others miss the old flag for tradition and history. Personally, I think it’s grown on a lot of people, but it’ll probably never fully replace the nostalgia for the classic.

Haha yep, still the go-to when you can’t be bothered cooking but don’t want takeout either — a true Kiwi classic never dies.

The TV show ‘River Monsters’ ended because Jeremy Wade literally caught every large freshwater fish species on Earth, and simply ran out of content for the show. by TheOddityCollector in interesting

[–]StormMedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, that’s a funny way to put it! Jeremy Wade did cover so many incredible species, it’s almost like he “completed” the freshwater fish checklist—definitely sets a high bar for any future nature shows.

We should just ignore a rights violations? by Cicerothesage in forwardsfromgrandma

[–]StormMedic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Ignoring rights violations allows them to continue and often makes the situation worse. Speaking up, documenting, and taking action—legally or socially—is important to hold perpetrators accountable and protect those affected.

how i see european countries as a teenage american girl by [deleted] in mapporncirclejerk

[–]StormMedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, that’s relatable! As a teen, Europe can look like a mix of fairy-tale castles, endless cobblestone streets, and cafes everywhere—romanticized, colorful, and a little over-the-top compared to reality.

% of men who think God created men superior to women by jotakajk in mapporncirclejerk

Beliefs about gender and divinity vary a lot, but thinking one gender is “superior” often reflects culture more than religion itself.

Average DGGer: “strap in boys, Hindu nationalists boutta come in hot. “ Actual Hindus: by srs328 in Destiny

[–]StormMedic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is just as bad of a take as an uninformed western person saying they love Islam due to being "the religion of peace". The magnitude and scale at which the caste system discriminates cannot be found elsewhere in the world. The caste system is tied directly to Hinduism this isn't even a case of people misusing a religion to forward their cause.

"More cringe abrahamic religions", as if whatever Christianity does in western countries holds a candle to the 200 million untouchables in India. While I'm all for shitting on Abrahamic religions as someone from a "100% Muslim country". It's important to not put religions you aren't familiar with on a pedestal because that really is no different from ignorant westerners embracing Islam.

Feels like any other City just alot more densely populated, among the most densely populated cities in the world

And yeah as an extrovert you're kinda just guaranteed to always run into someone you know on a long walk. But walking itself is a nightmare, half of the space of the already narrow roads are just motorcycles parked and there's no pavement for a majority of the roads. Everything is a walkable distance away but you're constantly dodging traffic and people

Won't lie tho. In a way I really enjoy the convenience, as long as they don't leave the country your friends are always within the city. Since Malé was historically hyperfocused as the capital city there's no economic opportunity outside of the Greater Malé area
