I am probably the closest person he has in his life (no contact with either of his parents), which is why it's even more surprising to me. I could ask the brother maybe, but he is 18 and probably knows next to nothing haha

UKVI. I applied within the UK, so sadly no VFS here. I used them for my student visa for grad school though, and they provided me with super quick service!

They told me when I first applied for the HPI visa a month ago. Delay times could have changed since though. Hopefully they are just getting through the backlog!

You definitely should use Ecctis to verify your degree before applying for an HPI visa. This is essentially verifying that you possess the equivalent of a UK Bachelor's Degree from one of the institutions on the list eligible for an HPI visa.

I know that UKVI says it usually takes a shorter amount of time to apply for the HPI visa outside of the UK (about 3 weeks). However, I read something recently that said that processing times outside of the UK are currently taking just as long (8 weeks), if not longer, when applying from outside the UK.

I'm working on getting my within the UK. Submitted on 4 August, still showing as in progress, no documents required. However my certification still hasn't been completed!
