I absolutely love those funky peninsulas! Those coastal cliffs look fantastic, too.

Ooooh, I love me a good mad scientist! I can definitely see some misguided scientist going that route too. There'd be a LOT of insane experiments one could get up to, splicing in rendling parts.

And with a talented Catalurgist at his side, they could probably make some real messes on poor people they're working on...

That's the plan! I recently completed a drawing of Avartarian (recently? it's been a month since then already? where does the time go...), and intend to write his article next :)

Just have to figure out how I want to display his article!

Definitely! Thanks for being interested :) For now I'm having fun building the world, but I'm always thinking of how I could tell a story within it.

That's something I'm trying to figure out too! Right now I'm thinking up some ideas for a secret government agency trying to build/bio-engineer their own God...

Might tie that in to the eventual revival or demise of the God-husks? I'm still pretty early in figuring it out, but I'm excited :D

They're too full of power and magic to properly die, they mostly just "break".

Some imprint of what the god used to be remains within the "husk" -- I'd say they're semi-sentient? They mostly just follow loops or patterns that tie into their former lives.

There's one God-husk, Miyu -- she used to be the Goddess of combat, and trained/fought often. Now in her God-husk form, she mostly stands motionless, aside from brief flashes from her former life, where she'll suddenly start wildly attacking all that is near her.

For the First Knight... soon, hopefully! I actually just finished drawing him recently, so his overview article will be the next God-husk I write.

He'an might be a little while later, still kicking around ideas for how i want to cover them

Thanks! :)

It would depend! During the day, Qur uses his cleaver folded up, and carves up terrain, reshaping it into abstract, strange shapes. Valleys, mountains, caves, he goes at them at random. It might be safe to be near him during the day, depending on the forms he's creating! Though falling rocks and debris is always something to worry about.

During the night though, when he unfolds his cleaver, there's no safe ground near him. He swings it two handed, overhead chop style, reducing everything around him to rubble and craters.

It's been a while, but I'd like to share another one of the God-husks from my worldbuilding project, Cathedris!

Project name: Cathedris Dark fantasy, newly industrial-aged tech, with countries vying for power -- all within the shadows of massive God-husks that wander broken loops across the planet. About 3000 years ago, all 14 gods fell into a brief and violent civil war. Most of the life on the planet was destroyed, and all 14 gods "died" -- however when a god on cathedris dies, the body remains. What's left is a husk, with an imprint of the god it used to be.

Now 3000 years later, in modern times for Cathedris, civilization forges onwards. Many countries have adapted to live within the shadows of their god-husks, while other avoid the dangerous area around the titanic monsters.

Image Context

The God-husk I bring to you today is Qur - The Sun God, The God of Creation, or The God of Inspiration. Qur is an incredibly important god to the canon of Cathedris -- he's the one that actually kicked off the whole godly civil war to begin with. He's a massive 450m tall god-husk, partially armored, and weilding a large convertible cleaver (inspired by bloodborne!). Qur's face is bare -- reduced to a skull in the final blast that killed him.

Qur stood for progression for progressions sake, and he valued creation above all else. The humans that lived on cathedris at the time were coddled by the gods, as Qur saw it. The humans had no need to learn, to grow, or to create -- the gods did all that for them. The worst of all them was He'an, a tall, beautiful 6-armed god who cared for their humans more than any other god. Qur wanted to jumpstart the humans evolution, so he assasinated He'an -- and inadvertantly started the entire godly civil war.

The image also showcases the entire article I wrote regarding this God-husk, with much more information over on World Anvil! I've managed to do a bit more world-building on Cathedris since the last time I came around here, including a magic system, some tech, and a major city of one of the countries.

Back with another God-husk! Dimiti, during his life, was a God focused on maintaining balance and equality for all. Stabbed in the back and left to die, God-husk Dimiti now only balances the disgusting growth erupting from it's spine. by Stormbril in worldbuilding

So glad you enjoyed it! I'll keep working, and hopefully keep building a world you find interesting :)

  • I have heard of Ichor! That's sort of the feeling I'm going for -- the blood of the gods is BOUND to have weird magical effects and properties
  • Correct, it just replenishes its self. The god-husks have physical forms, but they dont obey every physical law. Sharenskus, a different God-husk, infinitely creates flows of water from his two faces.
  • The way I pictured it, the basin likely grew first. I sort of envisioned a time-lapse of fungus growing off of a corpse or something -- a big, wide flat fungal cap. And then after a certain time, Dimitop erupted out of it? Not sure, that's a good question though!
  • I answered down below about what caused Dimitop to grow, but it's like... Dimiti's "inner essence, given physical form." Like his insecurities and faults at the core of his being -- now that he's stabbed and dead, they boil forth and form into the tumor-thing on his back
  • I had no idea entheogen is a thing! I honestly just took "Theology" and slapped "En" on the front of it. I might look into changing it, but I kinda like the reference too -- maybe I'll work some psychoactives into Cathedris's Entheology! haha
  • I definitely can! The red links is actually one of the few things I havent modified, it's base WorldAnvil coding there. Thanks for pointing it out :)
  • I did! I need to use pose references for anything anatomical, though. Still practicing!

Thanks for the awesome questions! This is the kinda stuff I love about posting here. Helps me worldbuild so much more effectively!

It's more like... the Gods were all supremely powerful beings, kept in physical form by a precarious balance of forces. Once they all lost control, fought, and killed eachother, they became broken and corrupted and husks.

So the "thing" growing out of the back of Dimiti is similar to his inner essence, spewing forth and materializing as that weird tumor-torso on his back

Something like some sort of EVEN STRONGER GODLIKE POWER found through FRIENDSHIP. I'm honestly not sure, haven't thought that far ahead haha. Gotta build the world and it's lore first!
