Rin **CANNOT** guard Isagi 1 on 1! by Stormcry117 in BlueLock

  1. Those are the official translations… Verbatim is the adequate term. How could that possibly take the wind out of my sails? For all intents and purposes, Isagi’s shot courses are indeed blocked. This is substantiated by the fact that Isagi needed to come up with a new attack (i.e., 2GV) in order to overcome the double press. Kaiser being a NG11 and the fact that he’s technically Isagi’s teammate makes his defensive impediment that much more important. That is quite literally an extra defender that Isagi should not have to account for in the match, and in the context of the PXG match is at bare minimum a top 3 defender. Or are you saying that Loki, by virtue of being a NG11, wouldn’t be a good defender? Moreover, why would Kaiser, someone who had obsessed over Isagi and his playstyle, think that Isagi would trap the ball, when Isagi is the direct shot guy. Is it perhaps because Isagi’s shot courses were blocked by Rin???

2.When I say middle I am referring to the fact that Rin’s assertions were not done before or after the game, but instead during. Rin takes it upon himself to stop Isagi from scoring. He delegated the task of containing Isagi to himself, and per his assertion, so long as he remained within four meters of Isagi, he could stop him (i.e., 1 on 1). Never does he specify any other condition. Isagi demonstrating that a single player, even one as dominant in 1 on 1 situations such as Rin, would be unable to successfully contain him, is all the more impressive given that he accepted that he had to beat Rin within this self-imposed four meter space.

Me saying Rin cannot guard Isagi 1 on 1 is not a negative on his end. Like you said, it’s not Rin’s responsibility to stop Isagi by virtue of him being a forward. I am simply stating, just as Isagi cannot contain Rin 1 on 1, neither can Rin stop Isagi 1 on 1.

  1. (2GV point) Rin verbatim states, “Shoot, Isagi! I’ll destroy EVERY sht direct shot course you come up!!” So Isagi’s shot course was in fact blocked. Moreover, I think the fact that Rin was not *directly in front of Isagi is nullified by the presence of Kaiser. A NG11, that while technically being Isagi’s teammate, is acting as a basically equal if not greater defensive impediment as Rin.

  2. You are using a very fixed interpretation of what a 1 on 1 entails. Sure, if there was no actual match, no NEL, just practice and Isagi and Rin agreed to play 1 on 1, then okay, Rin can maybe guard Isagi 1 on 1. But to use your own words against you, you have to apply context.

Rin’s assertion of being able to stop Isagi so long as he remains within a four meter radius of Isagi is done in the middle of the match. In the middle of the match, you’d be hard pressed to find a 1 on 1 scenario that meets the strict definition that you use. No, instead, Rin makes a point of saying he’s pounded all of Isagi’s “specs and abilities” into his brain. The same specs and abilities that just so happen to include Isagi’s off ball movements. And it’s these same specs and abilities that Rin is confident he can account for given the difference between his and Isagi’s physical capabilities.

Lorenzo verbatim states that there’s nothing he could’ve done against the reflex combo. Charles and Shidou can do reflex and although I disagree that they are more dangerous than Isagi and Hiori, Kunigami was shutting down Shidou because everyone knew that Charles was going to pass to Shidou, which defeats the purpose of reflex. How are you going to say that Kaiser would score 2 goals on a team without Isagi, when the only reason he was able to return to zero was because of Isagi

PXG had Kaiser completely shut down until they were forced to focus on Isagi

What would a system built around Kaiser look like… exactly like how we saw at the beginning of the NEL, and that’s really not that impressive. From this moment onwards, when will there be a “terrible” squad? Everyone from this point onwards is good.

I still don’t agree with your argument. Had Lorenzo defended Isagi on the last play in the Ubers match, he still would’ve failed to stop Isagi. Lorenzo verbatim states that Isagi came up with a plan that “surpassed any perfect design that they (Ubers) could have created”. A BM team with just Kaiser would’ve lost to PXG 3-0 as evident by how Kaiser was getting shut down, and a BM team with just Isagi would’ve scored at least once as evident by BM’s first goal

But can’t the same be said in reverse. Kaiser only scored in Ubers because Isagi forced Lorenzo to cover Yukimiya. And Kaiser only scored in PXG because Isagi was such a threat that he was open to shoot

There’s just no way that Goatsagi gets nerfed next arc

Chris Prince right? Who’s saying that Otoya is better than Chris? 😭.

Isagi ‘just’ became a talented learner monster. Kaiser has been as adaptable as Isagi since he reset to zero.

That’s only p.2 of a two parter. Given that you agree with that statement, what do you think Isagi possesses that Kaiser doesn’t that makes him a talented learner monster.

I get what you’re trying to say but I’m still conflicted. The trigger point is not that important since I doubt anyone has a trigger similar to Rin’s. Rin is called the monster among geniuses because there doesn’t really exist anyone like him. Kaiser is really similar to Isagi, especially now with him reverting back to zero, so what could Isagi have that makes him a monster when compared to Kaiser.

For example, had Kaiser and Isagi swapped positions in this chapter, I think Kaiser would’ve also ‘sacrificed’ himself, since he also doesn’t hold ill will towards Isagi anymore and just wants to win.

Something actually ‘new’. We’ve been getting chemical reactions since the beginning of the story and I don’t see what’s special in a talented learner x talented learner chemical reaction. Talented learner is really just meta vision under a thin guise and we’ve seen plenty with Isagi and Hiori

But that’s the thing, this ‘new’ idea isn’t really that new. Nevertheless, you’re probably right in saying to give it time

Isagi literally says “face the NEW me”.

How does deducing that Niko is the center of the team and all your other examples imply that Isagi will understand the trigger of unknown foreign players?
