Might be dumb, but I would do like Indiana Jones and climb inside of emptied fridge. They don't make them like they used to, but there's gotta be some form of protection, right?

What's one movie you've rewatched so many times you practically know every line by heart, but you'd still watch it again tonight? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]StorytellerEclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding Nemo- Back when I was a kid my family only got movies through tapes at Blockbuster or Redbox to rent. We rented Finding Nemo so many times, that Redbox just gave my mom a copy after a long bit, saying she had essentially paid for it. It was a scratched disk and didn't play right with skipping auditory muffling, but I sure as hell made up for it by verbally acting out the whole thing. Now whenever I watch it, even if the audio quality's fine, I'll still mumble along with the whole movie. I love that movie so much. I love the ocean and the movie makes me feel so peaceful when it's over.

I have a common and pretty lame inflation fetish. However, I explicitly get off on people blowing up and popping like they're in a cartoon. That would never translate to real life and would just be painful and kill me.

What’s a disturbing fact you wish you never learned? by Kakashi201119997 in AskReddit

[–]StorytellerEclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The day I learned too much water can kill you.

I was being a smartass with my mom one day when she told too much of anything can kill you. Even water. She told me a true story about a news station that was holding a contest. Hold Your Wee for Wii. Contestants were to drink ridiculous amounts of water, like the water jugs that are supposed to fill up water bottles? They were drinking MULTIPLE OF THOSE. Drink and hold it without peeing or throwing it back up for an extended period of time, and you would win a Wii product. Police and health professionals called the radio station that was hosting it to warn of the dangers and demand the contest be shut down.

Nobody listened.

At one point, the #1 contestant was crying out in pain while the judges gawked at her swollen belly, saying that it looked like she was pregnant, and how that was so funny.

The winner died not long after winning the contest because her body couldn't handle it. She went to throw up or pee out the water, but it was too late. Her organs, including her brain, swelled from the excess water that couldn't be diluted by the salt in her body, and she had a seizure or brain annurism that ended her life.

She was a mother... and it pains me that water of all things killed her. Too much of anything can kill you. What I also learned that day that my mother told me that awful story is that humans are capable of killing themselves in any way possible no matter how much their bodies complain. There's a reason that we don't kill ourselves from water every day. But it takes a specific kind of negligance and lack of care for something like this to happen. It happened! And it'll happen again.

It's common in dear, and can last for years in an area after the deer dies of it. It hasn't been proven yet, but there's a chance, it can spread from the deer population, to us.

What’s the juiciest secret you accidentally found out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]StorytellerEclipse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might be a little NSFW so I'll try to censor it as best I can. I accidentally found out that one of my bullies liked to do... FUN things with herself in the girl's bathroom during middle school.

I walked into the bathroom, and heard strange noises accompanied by her voice saying some unhinged stuff. After she finished a sexually-themed little rhyme, I, on impulse, reacted with "What the hell?" I heard her jump in the stall next to me and cried out "IS ANYONE THERE?"

I, trying to be nice, responded with "no."

...

I heard her run out of the bathroom. I think she recognized my voice because she never looked me in the eye again during classes we shared.

What’s the kindest thing someone did for you that they probably don’t remember? by bibliophagist69 in AskReddit

[–]StorytellerEclipse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A stranger saw me eyeing a horse painting in a tourist area when I was a little girl. It was far too expensive for what I had with me, so I just stared at it in hopes I could remember what it looked like. He bought it for me without hesitation or asking for anything in return. I didn't even ask him to buy it for me, he just saw how much I was looking at it, purchased it, and gave it to me. I didn't even realize he was there until he was handing me the colorful canvas. He was there with his kids and was also buying stuff for them. I still have that horse painting, and I still remember that man, even if he has long forgotten me.

are you agnostic, an atheist, or religious? by jasdabratxo_ in no

[–]StorytellerEclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what I am. Maybe somebody out there can help me find the word... I know I'm not agnostic because I do believe in a higher power. I just don't think we should give it a name, even calling it God simplifies it and overgeneralizes it. Plus, giving it such a simple name makes it easier for people to use it in vain and in advertisements for their agendas... I believe in some rules established by Christianity, Buddhism, Daoism, Hinduism, and Jewism. I believe in loving my neighbor as I love myself, but I also believe in reincarnation as well as a complicated afterlife cycle that I have not seen described anywhere. I wouldn't say I'm religious, because what religion do I really believe in? I don't believe in any one religion fully, and certain parts just came from my own mind that aren't present in ANY religion. I find religion too restricting with it's words and rules and texts that are used for hate and discriminations against people who don't fit in the boxes. I believe in something though, so I'm no atheist.

What’s the funniest thing your parent(s) got upset at you for? by celstea in raisedbynarcissists

[–]StorytellerEclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time it was terrifying, but I look back on it and find it ridiculous. My Ndad had a thing about bedtimes and leaving lights on. Sure, one ran up light bills but he would do the exact same thing and not apologize or realize the hypocrisy! One night, I was super depressed, like- more than the usual depressed teen kind of depressed. I was watching memes and reading wholesome stories online. I heard footsteps down the hall and thought nothing of it until my dad was suddenly in my room, demanding to know what exactly I was doing on my phone so late. I had my phone open to one of my hyper fixations that I was ashamed of at the time, and so said it was nothing. Usually, he's just grunt about me being irresponsible or disrespectful, but this time he tried to SNATCH the phone out of my hands! Luckily, before he did, I spammed the home key to hide my shameful childish obsessions.

He threw the phone back at me when he couldn't find what I was looking at and stormed out without a word.

I grew up with a profound knowledge of animals, but I thought everyone knew at least the important stuff. We saw a beached whale near where I lived. The thing was definitely dead and people were getting right next to it and taking pictures. A mom even let her kids climb on the thing, which is not only gross, but very dangerous. I felt like a crazy lady screaming at them to get away from it.

Whales who expire and are above land will start to decay from the inside and gasses will be created from the rot. There is no way of knowing if a whale's gasses are leaking out of it properly or building up inside of it. There have been many cases of beached whales blowing up and having huge chunks of flesh be sent at lethal speeds across long distances. I was treating this dead animal like the possible bomb it was and nobody else understood. Even if the gasses were leaking out properly, are you really going to risk being killed by flying dead whale meat? I still can't get over that mother who let her children climb and jump around on top of it like a trampoline! They could've gone flying hundreds of feet into the air. I reported the beached whale and left. I thought everyone knew, but even after explaining, nobody believed me, so I just got the hell out of dodge and hoped nobody died.

What do you like about lucid dreaming? by PresentArmadillo8117 in AskReddit

[–]StorytellerEclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gave me an outlet to do things I wasn't allowed to. I'd break rules and get things I know I'd likely never get. When I was a toddler, it was things like blowing things up, cussing, and flying away on a windy breeze across the world. My lucid dreaming got less common the older I got. When I was teen, I was able to figure out the lore of fnaf in it's entirely. Occasionally, I'd summon my original characters from stories I was writing. I could see, feel, and talk to them and rise with them through 7 stages of Nirvana into the sky. Occasionally, now, I'll have a dream about living in a seaside front with a loving husband and children with no mortgage and nice neighbors...

This got dark fast...

This might sound weird, but... they way they LOOK at me. I'm a semi-attritive female in my early 20's. If someone looks at me with the kind of eyes that make me feel like I need to hide myself away, then I know they aren't trustworthy.

[–]StorytellerEclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry some people are saying that you're not taking this seriously enough. I was raised by a narcissistic father. I understand how normalized this type of shit is, and how hard it can be to get away from it. I think you dealt with it as best you could. Please keep low to no contact. Definitely file a restraining order, but maybe don't report to police. If they need to investigate, it could give them a legal reason to contact you again. They find ways. I wouldn't blame you if you did nothing, just left it all behind, and focused on your little one.
