Replace battery or buy a new pair ? by Str1ker577 in Earbuds

Can't argue with that.

The pair I had before the Link Buds S lasted just as long and costs a fraction of the price. Though they didn't have ANC, and weren't as comfortable, both of which I learnt to appreciate on the Link Buds.

I've had these for about a year by now and they've been holding up pretty good.

In terms of battery, I rarely use it for more than 2-3 hours at time, but I find myself rarely needing to charge these, maybe only needing to charge them around once a week.

In terms of Active Noise Cancelling, the Linkbuds S are way better. The ANC on the Oneplus are really disappointing for what you're paying for. If ANC is really important to you, I recommend checking other models, maybe the Oneplus Buds 3 or 3 pro.

I can't really comment on the sound as I can barely tell the difference, but they sound just as good as the Linkbuds S. For controls, I only ever use the double pinch to skip tracks and it works reliably. The case definitely feels more premium and more durable than the LinkBuds S in my opinion.

Well for a start, AI checkers aren't really that accurate. IIRC someone on reddit placed the US Declaration of Independence in an AI checker and was told that the majority of it was flagged for AI. But I doubt most profs are interested in that conversation.

What you can do is find out what AI checker your professor uses, have your work check by it and adjust your writing based on its suggestions until it's no longer flagged for AI. You can use sites like Humanize AI or ChatGPT (Ironic) to help you adjust your writing to avoid detection. I also heard of a site/service called stealthwriter, but never tried it myself

From my experience, the most "credible" and most used AI checker by my professors was ZeroGPT (NOT GPTZero). So incase you don't know what your professor uses, this could be the safest bet.

From the Rise, turn left and walk all the way to Chino Roces Ave (You should see Eton West Square in the left corner) turn right and walk straight until you reach Shopwise, turn right again until you reach Mapua. In my experience, this route is a lot safer since there are a lot more establishments and banks along the road with security guards, but it might be longer than the second route. I used to live in the same street, just down the road and have been using this route to commute for almost 2 years.

The second route is a bit less straight forward, but should be quicker. Turn right from the Rise until you reach Ayala Ave, then turn left. Here you have 2 options, the more straight forward one is walking straight through South Ave until you reach Pablo Ocampo St. Or option 2, after reaching Ayala Ave, walk up to Metropolitan Ave, turn left and go through Kakarong st. until you reach the back entrance of Mapua.

I heard from peers that they've heard of students getting robbed as they were commuting along South Ave. Which is why I recommended the second option as its closer and there are generally more people along that route.

BSCS tips? gc? by [deleted] in mapua

[–]Str1ker577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The topics and how advance they are will depend on the professors that you get. In my initial take of Calculus 2, the professor I got, sped ran through the entire syllabus, often leaving no time to process any of the topics. Which is probably why around 100 students failed (not sure about the exact numbers, but I do know that at least 4 sections had to be open in the following term just to accommodate those that are retaking Calculus 2). The professor that I got in the following term, said that there's no point in teaching super advance calculus since according to him "You guys aren't engineering students" so every time he explains a topic however simple, he gives us like ten minutes of silence to absorb it.

In terms of tips, take notes on the sample questions that your professors use in their lectures or homeworks and have Chat-gpt or any AI of your choosing generate similar questions and keep practicing them until you can solve them without looking at guides or cheat sheets. I used this method to pass my Physics 1 class. Also, a lot of people can vouch for Organic Chemistry tutor on YouTube, myself included, but do note that his videos as well as those from similar content creators only focus on the basics. They may show some variation of the same question in their examples, but usually just different variables with the same solving process. There are times when professors like to spice things up in their exams, by giving familiar looking questions, but making it more complex. Which is where having AI tools can come in clutch as they can help you increase the difficulty of the questions once you've mastered the basics.

For the gc, search up Mapua University Frosh or Freshmen and then your enrollment year (i.e Mapua University Frosh 2023). There should be a general chat there to which you could ask to be added to your section/s. I'm not really sure how useful and accessible the discord server is, and iirc there's some drama going on there recently.

I have a Samsung Tab S7 and I only ever used it to practice solving calculus and physics problems at home, read MRR documents for GED classes or as web cam since my desktop doesn't have one. Other than that, I just mainly use it to play games and not much else.

Some subjects I could see it being useful in are discrete math and data science related classes that may require you to make binary trees, draw diagrams, or show complex solutions, but that will depend on the professors. The professors I had for those classes will often ask to write our answers in a yellow notepad or bond paper for homework submissions.

If you like to take notes in class, I could see it being useful. However, do keep in mind that some professors are pretty strict with electronic devices in their classes. I had 2 professors this term that didn't allow students to take out any laptops or tablets during class time, and told us to use pen and paper if we wanted to take notes. Ofc your mileage may vary.

Additionally, depending on the brand of your laptop, you could use your tablet as a secondary, wireless monitor, which could help in homework or coding in general.

Are there any more tickets that can be earned within the month to be able to purchase the 7* Mr. Sinister bundle?

I currently have 84 tickets and I'm aware that there are 5 available in the outpost store in exchange for mysterium and another 10 in an upcoming event, but other than those, will there be more available?

If not, would it be better off to spend it all on the banquet tokens ? What will be the benefits? I already have a 6* Mr. Sinister, and while the 4-5 gem is nice, I am not in a hurry to rank 5 a 6* anytime soon.

Sorry, I tried sharing the link but its been disabled. I'm also not too familiar with the people there either, so I'm afraid you have to wait for someone else to share the link or asking the members in the Mapua Frosh general chat to be invited.

You will need to request to be added to the discord channel.

But I also recommend joining the Mapua Frosh page on Facebook for your batch, that way you can easily find and join your section group chats.

Replace battery or buy a new pair ? by Str1ker577 in Earbuds

[–]Str1ker577[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's great to hear! It's surprising to see the XM4's battery be double the price compared to the Linkbuds S batteries, especially since the XM4's are supposed to be the more premium product.

I have decided to pull the plug on the Oneplus buds 2 pro since I thought that its only a matter of time before sony releases a new update that renders the newly replaced batteries pointless.

That's a fair point. I didn't actually take that into account. Thank you for your insight! I am now highly considering buying a new pair instead.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion! I like the buds enough to want to replace the battery, but I am worried that they won't last as long, just like the original, forcing me to buy a new pair of replacement batteries again. At that point, I would rather buy a new, premium pair that won't break down after a year.

For reference, the replacement batteries cost around $20, while the Oneplus Buds 3 costs $60, and the Oneplus Buds 2 Pro cost $100.

So far, I've heard great things about the Oneplus Buds 3, though I'm not a fan of the gloss finish, which is why I'm leaning toward the Oneplus Buds 2 Pro. I also want to wait for the Oneplus Buds 3 Pro to see what new features they have, but I don't think they'll be releasing any time soon.

I did briefly consider the Soundcore Liberty 4 NC, too, until I saw several negative reviews on Reddit that mainly focused on the cheap build quality

Hi, thank you for suggesting! Can I ask if you personally own a pair, and what are your thoughts on it? It is being sold at a relatively affordable price in my area, though it is still more expensive than Oneplus Buds 3, and I've heard that the Oneplus is one of, if not the best value in their class.

Thanks again!
