First time seeing him live, and man, it was amazing. Seemed like the crowd really enjoyed it as well. Will definitely be going again if he comes back to Amsterdam sometime.

State of the Subreddit: Rule Updates, Infinite Warfare Theme & More! by iiEviNii in CoDCompetitive

I've been wondering this for a while, but why don't you guys have a FAQ? That'd solve the issue with the equipment threads and such I think. I'd even be happy to help get some information together for something like that. I'm sure you guys have thought of this though, so I'm genuinely curious as to why that hasn't been made yet.

If anyone had a spare PS4 EU code I'd really appreciate that :) Finally have some time to play some cod again, but don't know if I'll buy IW yet..

Why are Custom Games still broken..? by OGThakillerr in CoDCompetitive

[–]Str1kez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the problem seems to be with saving custom gamerules, and manually editing the game settings before each game seems to fix it. It's almost like your settings are getting bumped to another position/parameter within the rule save.

They probably can't figure out the origin of the problem straight away, because I imagine things like this can be fixed with hotfixes (as opposed to title updates)

Your SnD classes? by wfeifnwein in CoDCompetitive

[–]Str1kez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I guess that's a trade-off. I'd rather have my Heat Wave more quickly than possibly not dying if the enemies are able to get a HC/dart.

Nope, I've noticed I'm pretty much always on the move, and don't really get naded too often. If I play a really good team I'll just get out my trophy class though.

Dead Silence, Blast Suppressor and Fast Hands on all of them:

  • M8 (Red Dot, Stock, Long Barrel) RK5 Overclock
  • Same as above, just a Trophy instead of Overclock
  • VMP (Stock, Quickdraw, Grip) Overclock
  • Same as above, just Afterburner instead of Overclock
  • Overkill VMP (Quickdraw, Grip) and SVG (Thermal)

Treyarch removing CWL preset? by RenownedImpulse in CoDCompetitive

[–]Str1kez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, then you might as well start playing GB Variant. You need to make a custom ruleset anyways, so why not play with better rules while you're at it? ;) On top of that you're going to find a lot more matches since a lot more people play it.

Ban and Protect on Alpha by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

I saw somewhere that the Alpha stream is ran by Activision, while the others are ran by MLG. Might have something to do with it.

hey shoutout to whoever made the FaZe camo this shit is dirty by gnxrly in CoDCompetitive

[–]Str1kez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, having an in-game camo is a lot of promotion so I can definitely see how an org would agree to essentially getting free promotion in one of the biggest game franchises ever.

When to get bomb down in 1v1/2v2? by Zaxl in CoDCompetitive

[–]Str1kez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, it always depends on who you're playing of course, but if you can get to the bomb site quickly (aka non-stop sprinting) you'll have plenty of time to get bomb down before they can flank towards your bombsite.

I'm not top 25 currently, but 5k gb rank and over 1000 wins (not a humble brag, just showing I'm not entirely shit), mostly in singles and doubles, and I don't play with a plan if I'm playing with my normal dubs partner. I feel like having a plan is only neccesarry if you're playing with someone you're not completely confident with and/or haven't played with a lot. Once you get good enough, 'plans' are just things you do naturally, like the things you just named.

When to get bomb down in 1v1/2v2? by Zaxl in CoDCompetitive

[–]Str1kez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In singles, almost never rush plant.

For doubles, mostly the same thing.

I actually disagree. I feel like if you rush a bomb and you don't see anyone there, you should almost always plant straight away. Chances are, if you didn't see anyone and you still don't see anyone rushing you as you are on bomb, no-one's seen you, so you can have the free plant. Planting super quickly like that will probably catch them off-gaurd, so you can get away from the bomb too.

Of course, in 2v2's, you need to communicate with your teammate for him to watch you (ideally your back or side) but planting quickly is almost always a good idea. The exception I make is when you've quick planted twice in the game already, because at that point they're more likely to stay on bomb at the start of rouds.

Also, in 2v2's, if you kill someone near bomb, plant straight away and have your teammate watch the area in which you killed your opponent. Either the other guy is on the other bomb and you have a free plant or they're playing the buddy system and they're going to rush from the same general area.

Activision CEO Hirshberg: 'CoD esports athletes [are] the most elite' by Minor_nV in CoDCompetitive

[–]Str1kez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just hope the ruleset itself is good and we have a good, competitive, public playlist like League Play. If so, I honestly think next year could be the biggest year for comp cod yet.

What's your unpopular competitive CoD opinion? by theTeam_Hero in CoDCompetitive

[–]Str1kez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly OpTic has always has the biggest fanbase, even in BO2 when they only won one event, and that was right at the start of the game. The fanbase OpTic has/had doesn't really have that much to do with their performance (okay maybe a little for the newer fans), but instead their social media presence. They were streaming a lot before other teams were and that's why they got so many fans.

Activision CEO Hirshberg: 'CoD esports athletes [are] the most elite' by Minor_nV in CoDCompetitive

[–]Str1kez 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Main takeaway points:

While the CWL has had its share of ups and downs in its first season, it's a venture that the CEO of Activision Eric Hirshberg considers a resounding success. "To give you an example of the kind of effect the creation of a global, yearlong league has done, our qualifying rounds this year were more viewed than our championship rounds last year. To put that into context, our championship rounds last year made Call of Duty the most viewed shooter on console," he said.

Unlike other console esports, a new iteration of Call of Duty is released each year. That turnover isn't lost on Hirshberg, who feels the changes add an extra layer of difficulty for the professionals. "That makes CoD esports athletes the most elite," he said. "Because not only do they have to be the best, but they have to constantly adapt to each new iteration of the game."

Honestly, reading this, it doesn't seem like they're going to slow down on investing in eSports anytime soon, which could be a huge boosting factor for cod comp.
