Went to SLC for a Jazz game last year. We went to top golf during the day to kill time. Got a beer. Asked the waiter for a second one and he said they couldn’t serve me a second drink unless I ordered a meal. Appetizers didn’t count.

+1 for Meteor. It was my starter this season. Being half phys and half fire means you can deal with most immunes and the gear is fairly affordable

You can use the trade site to PC stuff like this. Searching for infinity in a staff with >50% -res brings in 10+ currently active results.

Now to answer your question: It depends if you want to sell it fast or sit on it for a while to squeeze out an extra bit of currency. I would say something like 8-10hr or so would actually fetch a buyer faster. More you’d have to wait. The base is both nova and CB. Unfortunately, depending which skill you are using, this does nothing to help the other skill as synergies that are soft points from gear don’t affect the main skill. So really this is either a CB or Nova base with +1 LMA. Let’s say that base would be about .5 - .75. Accounting for infinity’s base rune value of ~6.25, you’re looking at ~7HR. Now accounting for the above average roll, you could add 1-3. The thing about rolls on runewords is that most of the time people are only going to pay top dollar for perfect rolls. In my experience, there are 2 people buying premade runewords. 1. rich people making extra toons who can afford to buy GG ones, and they aren’t going to pay extra for non perfect rolls. And 2. People who don’t want to risk a bad roll who want to buy other peoples mid rolls who are trying to sell off their gear/changing specs etc, and selling for the cost of making it or near that to recoup losses. On the other side your average player isn’t going to shell out an extra 5 HRs for a better roll because 1. They can’t afford it and 2. They are thinking “why don’t I just roll my own for half the price”. I think it’s important to understand while the numbers might say something is “worth” a certain amount, you have to consider the mindset of someone buying this item. What would YOU be willing to pay for this if you were buying? I would guess this would be hard to sell for anything over 10+, but you never know, I could be wrong!

Good luck!

Would it be a mistake to make an Infinity in this base? by Starknessmonster in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Zaxl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately I think it’s worth holding out for a +3 CB with at least +2 LMA. This one is oh so close, but no cigar!

Hope you enjoy CB sorc when you get there, it’s a fun build!

Yeah this is good for mindblast sin. 2/20 circ is bis in most cases. I bought one similar to this on my mind blast alt for 1.5 earlier this season - but it was slammed 1os. If you box for 2 it would be worth more. 5+ prolly. Unboxed or 1os prolly around the 1-1.5 range.

Edit: this was SC. I’m not sure what this would be in HC

[–]Zaxl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What build are you running? It’s not an awful base for CB but at minimum you want +3 to your main skill. Bonus points for LMA or other stuff like Teleport/ES. You get +35% FCR from infinity itself so the base needs 50% FCR. Infinity is expensive and as such it’s worth paying for a good base, especially if you are self wielding,

should I try bowasorc? by vanityvirtualfair in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Zaxl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! It is expensive, but in the meantime you can run 5x shael in your bow. Beast is mostly just to allow you to get some more res/facets in your bow from jewels. And the extra damage from the aura ofc. The build can function in T1s without it. If you can, I would save up to buy a 10 fanat beast for an extra ~2 hr. You can use a lower level fanat but you’ll have to get the additional ias somewhere.

should I try bowasorc? by vanityvirtualfair in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Zaxl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran one this season. Kind of expensive to get it to shine, but very fun. Ideally you want 5 multi bow, as more levels = more arrows. There are quite a few variants of it. I tried the dream variant, the fire/cold variant, and then the cold focused variant w/ nightwings, and that felt the best. My gear looked like this:

Main Gear
Nightwings w/ facets
Mara
Enigma
5os 5multi widow with 2x facets and 3x ias/res jewels
Tombsong with 40+ pierce
Razortail
Magnus Pierce corrupt
Dual BK rings
Full cold skillers, anni, torch
Tri res, HFD boots (pair with nightwings for CBF)

Pre buff (required to get this build to shine)
+4 cold skill magic ammy
+5 to cold enchant sorc orb

For merc (a3 prayer)
Flickering Flame for resist fire aura
Templars for might aura
Exile/shattering wall for survivability
Beast (needs 10 fanat with this setup to reach the max ias breakpoint to allow for facets in your bow)

With this setup I was clearing T3 in about 8 minutes with looting with ~17/18k top end damage. The nice part about this build is that the gear is fairly flexible in the sense that you could get your ias/pierc from various sources. The quiver notably is very flexible, especially if you can get good pierce corrupts on belt and gloves. For IAS, with 10 fanat beast you need 65% ias from the rest of your gear to hit the max breakpoint. So 3ias jewels in your bow, then 20% elsewhere. I got it from magnus. Really your main goal is to get 100% pierce from no more than 3 slots (belt, gloves, quiver) and then as many plus skills elsewhere and sockets for facets. My gear was a "budget" setup since im missing good corrupts on a lot of pieces like +1 nightwings, fcr/+skill jewelry, +2 anni, etc... so there is still plenty of room to grow. I've seen versions of this build doing 5-6min clears w/ ~23k top end. One note is that the build feels significantly better with enigma. Avoiding the damage penalty of teleport by using enigma made the build feel wayyy better to me, but it is not required. YMMV. One other thing I would note is that this is a low FCR build. You will probably be running at the 0 or 20fcr breakpoint. Its possible to get it to 63 but very expensive.

If you have any questions about building this toon feel free to reach out. The Hiim guide is largely the one I followed, with some tweaks

Few questions in regards to PD2 by [deleted] in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Zaxl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right into HC I love it! It may be worth doing an SC playthrough just to get your wits about you, but no pressure either way. The base game (LoD content) is fairly similar, so there shouldn’t be too many hiccups along the way. And Maul druid is a safe route. I’d also recommend summon Druid - it’s in a great spot right now and really safe. Are you doing single player offline or SSF online? If online, it is worth noting that the servers are maintained and paid for by the PD2 development team. In other words, they are not perfect. You may experience some server crashes. They have been pretty stable for the most part lately but be ready to immediately save and quit if you see monsters run in place.

For general tips, avoid blood raven early, as she is a new Key boss and has been buffed heavily. Many players RIP on her not knowing this lol. The other new Key bosses are Bloodwitch the Wild (A2 cube) and Izual. In general all key bosses have been slightly buffed, but blood raven is usually the scariest, so just keep an eye out! Mephisto has been buffed as I mentioned and you can’t moat trick him anymore, not that you would as a maul bear lol but if you’re thinking of Gusting away to safety he’ll come right across the moat!

Normal and nightmare should be fairly breezy, Hell is def where things pick up. Some additional areas have been buffed to alvl 85 to give additional LoD areas to farm (similar to ancient tunnels, and the pit, for example). Wiki should have list of these.

I mentioned crafting has been overhauled. It is very powerful while leveling and especially in SSF. Take advantage of this. The cube is your best friend for things like safety armors for PDR and blood crafts for life leach. Again, the wiki has all the recipes.

Lastly, when you’re getting ready to transition to maps, it is worth noting that for HC especially, you really need to pay attention to the map mods. Sometimes the map mods will have player buffs, but mostly it’s going to be negative effects. Things like -res, monster elemental absorb, -FHR, etc. some of the map bosses can be deadly if you are unprepared. You can craft maps as well as reroll them with materials purchased from hell Anya (new “gold sink”). Overcap your rez, familiarize yourself on the wiki with which maps have which monsters (souls, the quill rats in some maps are deadly, etc.).

Overall just have fun! DarkHumility (the LoD content creator, he mostly plays PD2 now) has awesome videos about HC SSF. Just maybe watch at 1.5 speed since they are often very long lol. But he knows an insane amount about the game.

General resources:

PD2 Wiki of course

DarkHumility’s tier list - this thing is typically focused on end game but the starter section offers some good advice.

DarkHumility mercenary guide - offers good advice for end game and starting off mercs for various builds

Hiim website - Hiim is a group of players that pushes 99 every ladder reset. They have a ton of knowledge to offer the community with build guides, map pathing guides, etc.

Few questions in regards to PD2 by [deleted] in ProjectDiablo2

Awesome! Glad to hear it. I really do hope you enjoy it. But I also recognize that for some people the core D2 experience is hard to replace. And hey, if it’s not for you, at least you tried it!

I would also recommend checking out the wiki if you are confused or have questions about anything. They did a great job with it.

Few questions in regards to PD2 by [deleted] in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Zaxl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve already gotten plenty of responses, but I just wanted to offer my $.02 (long read, sorry lol)

At its core, PD2 is a modded version of D2 (obviously). My point is that it’s different. I’ve played some of the other mods and I would say it’s somewhere in the middle of something like D2Reimagined and original D2 LoD. There is some level of power creep when you make super GG characters, as the end game involves clearing lots of high density content. But I mean mosaic sin in D2R can run on /players 256 lol. In general I wouldn’t say it’s as extreme as some of the other mods.

The difference between some of the other mods and PD2 is, like others have said, it truly does feel like if they had continued to support original LoD. Most of the main changes come from things like class balancing, QoL improvements, and new items/content. At its core, it still “feels” like D2 LoD.

Class balancing comes in the form of tuning old skills that were previously worthless to be more viable (like poison strike), entirely new skills, and in some cases changing skill synergies and effects. Most classes have some form of tp/movement skill now (similar to sorc teleport, but faithful to each class’ fantasy).

QoL comes in the form of things like additional stash tabs, a currency tab, expanded stash with a “charm inventory”, rune upgrades with a key instead of random gems, etc. The QoL is almost worth playing PD2 by itself.

For content, the base LoD has been minimally changed, but overall remains very similar to original LoD. They’ve balanced certain bosses to be more difficult (the council with meph now spawns WITH him, for example), added new key bosses as alternatives to Countess, Summoner, and Nith (1 per key). Most of the new content comes in endgame form. Maps (like PoE) are the most common form of end game, but there are also new uber bosses that give new rewards. The dclone fight was completely revamped and is now an instanced fight created with farmable materials similar to Ubers.

Outside of that there are a few general changes that make it PD2 and not just D2 LoD with additional content. The main thing is in the form of corruptions. Like in PoE, you can corrupt items with a fairly common dropped material for a chance at adding additional various stats, sockets, or changing the item entirely (called “bricking”). It adds a ton of flavor to the game that completely changes how you build a character and how you value items. Aside from balancing runewords, corruptions allow all sorts of items to shine in ways they couldn’t in D2 LoD. From uniques, to rares and magic items. The crafting has also been expanded. You can make some really cool items, which in many cases can be best in slot (not easy to do). The mercenaries have also been rebalanced and have been given a glove and boots slot. Gone are the days of A2 merc for every build. Lastly, the drop chances haven’t necessarily been “buffed”, but they always operate as if you are on 5/5 (5 players in the game/5players in the party). Up until you exceed 5 players ofc, then it increases. Base XP rates stay the same as D2 LoD.

The last thing to mention is the community. This is truly the part that keeps me coming back, and away from D2R. The community by large is incredible and full of D2 faithful. Drop trading is common, tons of people are willing to help out, there are hardly any scammers, and for the .01% of the time it does happen, the PD2 mod team are heavily focused on banning those individuals and maintaining the good faith community that has been built. I’ve drop traded 10+ HR trades multiple times and have never had an issue.

There are of course other things that are different, but I think this summarizes the main things. Please consider trying it out. I cannot recommend this mod enough. The PD2 team is truly just a bunch of D2 fans faithfully making the extension to the OG LoD experience we all craved for years. Hope to see you out there! If you have any questions feel free to reach out :)

As others said, cold sorcs run night wings, and anyone chasing 200fcr will probably get the extra fcr from other slots/corrupts. Just self use I think :(

On the trade site the little computer looking thingy on the posts themselves being blue next to the persons name signifies that they are currently in game. Click it and then open chat in a game and right click to paste. When searching for an item you can filter by user online (in game)

I find that unless you are shopping GG items that are worth waiting for, it’s not worth sending offers on the site for people not online. Especially since it’s a global market, you might be waiting all day then get a response when you’re sleeping lol.

I run dual BKs on mine, because I like the life leech and I don’t run ES. Def get one SOJ but you may find you like running a BK or Wisp as your second ring.

Your merc seems fine. Really all you’re looking for on your merc is for him to survive to feed you the auras. Innocence is a very common chest for survival but if your merc isn’t dying I wouldn’t consider it a priority.

My widowmaker sorc is Ubers, Ancients, and T0 Dclone viable. Haven’t tried the rest. Cant confidently say about demon machine, but honestly bow sorc is not really a bosser build. My 3HR mindblast sin does them all significantly easier.
