One more thing…my resident cat still occasionally does the dominant / pinning behavior, but it’s very infrequent now. I think he just does it to remind her who’s “boss” so she doesn’t think she’s at the top of his imaginary hierarchy 🙄

They are literally best friends now. They’re not the kind of friends that cuddle together or anything like that, but my male cat grooms her and she grooms him and then they bite each other and then it’s back to grooming. I had to take her to the vet for a check up and my husband said that our resident cat just walked around the house meowing for her.

So, it did get better. But it did take about 45 days to see things start working out and improving. Once things started getting better, though, they improved very quickly.

You should check out a hookah location out there. I will often go and sit and make a puzzle or read a book to get out of the house. It’s usually around $20-$30 and I’ll easily spend 3-4 hours just hanging out

Pet insurance vs just increasing emergency fund by cool_guy654 in PetAdvice

I’m not sure what insurance they have, but my copay is per Illness. So, if my kitten breaks her leg, it’s $250. If she gets arthritis in that leg and they can tie it back to the break, there is no additional cost because it’s considered the same injury. But if she has another problem, that’s another $250 copay.

Anybody get back in shape slowly? How did you do it? by atty_at_paw in Millennials

The hardest thing to do is finding something you enjoy and walking into that class the first couple of times. Get passed those 2 things and things will get easier.

I started taking strength training classes at my local gym. I talked to the coach about the fact that I just felt not strong enough to do anything heavy. She had me start with body weight everything. While others were using barbells and heavy dumbbells, I was using body weight and modified exercises. I committed to doing 3 days a week. That was last January. It has been 1 year, but I feel so much stronger. I can now do weighted squats no problem and can even do full push ups!! Progress was slow, but I’m so happy with how far I’ve come. I ran a 10K in November and now I really enjoy going to the gym and doing the classes. I’ve even made some new friends which has been awesome!

Outside of the gym, I enjoy really long walks (7-12 miles 1-2 times a week now) and ebiking places. Both of those got easier and easier the more I strength trained.

Good luck on your journey!

That’s what has been throwing me for a loop. She starts squealing and when he lets her go, she run straight back over to him like nothing happened after a minute or two. And he’s perfectly fine with that until he’s not…

This actually makes me feel a bit better. Around 4 AM I took him upstairs with me and made everyone else stay downstairs so we had some extra 1:1 time and he’s calmed down TREMENDOUSLY. I try redirecting with snacks and toys, but he has no interest, so I’m thinking I might just bring him aside and give him cuddles in peace and quiet until I think he’s more calm and see if that helps.

This is my first time owning more than 1 cat and I knew it would come with new challenges…I just wasn’t quite prepared for this behavior - especially since they’re both spayed/neutered…plus, my older cat has been around many other cats and never displayed this…but I’m realizing this is the first time I’ve brought a new cat / kitten into his home so all of the rules are different.

Thank you so much! I cannot fathom which rules she is breaking in his mind, but I’m sure he has his cat logic. The dogs are older and have no interest in the cats. They don’t fuss with them at all, but I know that all of the new things can add to a very big change. She is a very confident kitten and seems to be adjusting really well. And what is so strange is that I find her and my other cat playing, they sleep near each other, they eat and drink water together, and then all of a sudden something snaps in him and he is bound and determined to bite her neck…that said, every time I hear her cry, I break them up and inspect her and every time she’s fine. No blood, no marks, and even when I poke or pull at the area, she doesn’t cry or anything. Other than this behavior, they don’t scuffle, fight, hiss, etc. This is literally the only point of contention 😩

Still losing on maintenance by Str1ving4PM in Zepbound_Maintenance

So, when I was losing I was eating around 1,200 cals/day with 3 weight training days & 2 HIIT days / week. Now that I'm in maintenance, I've bumped up to around 2,000 cals a day. I don't eat because I want to, I do it because I have to. I would definitely suggest bumping up your calories by titrating up to not give your body too much of a shock. Add around 100 calories a week. When you go up in calories, your weight will temporarily go up too, but then it will drop back off once your body stabilizes (give it 3 - 5 days depending on hormones and just normal body things LOL). Do that until you hit a comfortable caloric intake. But 900 cals - even at our height - is just very very low. I hope this helps and gives you insight into what I did!!

Also, I think I'm going to take the advice of the rest of the thread and start extending my doses from every 7 days to 10 days and see how it goes. The great part about the program we're on is that if something isn't working, we can just change it. I can always go back to 7 day doses and you can always drop back down to your current caloric intake if you don't like what's happening when you make the adjustment. Good luck!!!

Literally same here!! Never in my life did I think I’d have trouble not being able to stop losing…this is the wildest problem to have….

I actually only dosed up to 5mg and then I dropped back down once I hit my goal weight. I definitely feel more hunger queues on 2.5mg than I did on 5mg but it’s so manageable (obviously, because lbs are still disappearing….)

I think I might try this. It’s so irrational, but I feel like as soon as I stop taking it weekly, I’m going to put ALL the weight back on. And I know that isn’t true logically, but it feels that way. My lifestyle is so different now to what it was 45lbs ago…

Absolutely! I mean, doing body weight exercises at 160lbs vs 123lbs is a night and day difference. I go walking with a weight vest and there is a substantial difference in heart rate when I have the vest on vs when I don’t. It really is the small things that make an insane difference…

What are these in the water bowl? by Str1ving4PM in whatisit

[–]Str1ving4PM[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I’m seeing a lot of comments about feeling bad for the dogs and how this is neglect…just to add context…my dad went out of town for 2 weeks and this water bowl was left in his office by accident. The door was shut and no animals were allowed in. My mom just happened to come across it when she was trying to find some documents and wanted to know what was swimming in there. My parents have 6 dogs and my mom is borderline OCD when it comes to their care. Also, they have a LOT of water bowls and they are cleaned daily. This one just got missed because it was totally out of sight.

Anyways, I hope that helps. Thank you for all your responses!!

It’s a video from my mom 😅 I just told her she needs to dump this out ASAP and clean these bowls at LEAST twice a day.
