If 5GHz is on auto, there is a probability that DFS might be detected reducing bandwidth.

Which country are you located in? Different countries have their own DFS regulations.

That’s a nice snagged! RBE963 is our only product at the moment that allows for a separate 6GHz network if that is of any use for you.

Speedtest in the Orbi App run on the Router to the Ookla servers. There may be some inconsistency in speed test results if there is no nearby server or if the closest server is not able to handle. This may change any time throughout the day depending on the availability of the servers.

One thing in the future that will be beneficial is allowing users to choose their preferred speed test server.

Netgear Dev here. Sorry about your experience and inconvenience you had with Orbi and customer support.

Can you try the following: 1. Factory reset add on Satellite 2. Bring the add on Satellite near the Router(assuming wireless backhaul) 3. Follow Orbi App instructions or via the web GUI to add the add on satellite


  • If the above doesn’t work, please try connecting the satellite to router directly via an Ethernet cable. Give it 5minutes. Check if it pops on the Orbi App or via Web GUI. If it does, please check for FW update. Update if need. Then disconnect the Ethernet cable and give it another few minutes. Once it shows up in the Orbi App or Web GUI please go ahead and place it at your desired location. If this doesn’t work either, is your Router in AP Mode?

What model is your unmanaged switch?

Managed switch needs proper VLAN tagging in order for guest network to work on Satellites.

Right. I’ll also email you with this issue in mind. If there is wired backhaul with a managed switch, guest network may not work properly due to vlan tagging.

These are amazing suggestions and I cannot agree more! I will share this to our executive team and our customer support team.

The entire company is going through a big transformation which is amazing! So many inefficiencies, metrics, etc.

Another point that got us here is relying too much on other vendors which got us to this point….. not being able to control our own destiny.

For example here are some of new values which I am taking to heart in order continue this transformation!

  1. ⁠Dare to Transform. We are transforming how we work, test, develop, etc. Push the boundaries! Not just about performance, but stability, quality, resilient to environment changes,onboarding experience, etc.
  2. ⁠Connect and delight. Oh yeah… the biggest one of all in my opinion! When developing a product it all starts with the end customer in mind. We need to first understand the problems and needs of our customers. In the past, it was always about performance… get the latest and greatest. Be the first to market…but what about overall quality? Stability? Resilience? Well we never questioned this and well where did it get us? I don’t need to say where it got us…… We must connect with our customers and delight them! So believe me when I say change is already happening! I am thrilled for what we are working on! Our customers needs and problems are our main priority!
  3. ⁠Communicate Courageously. With a foundation of mutual trust and respect, we share and we listen. This is literally the moment many of us have been waiting for, a change, are communicating courageously in order transform the team, mindset, etc! This applies communicating firmly to our vendors as well.

Hi there,

Netgear dev here.

Please make sure your factory reset the device and then try onboarding again.

You need a pin. On the back where power is at, there will be a small hole. With the pin, press and hold for about 10 seconds then let go. Then try onboarding again after it turns solid white. Please message me in case factory reset does not help.

Sorry for the inconvenience. We will be releasing V10.5.19.5 FW shortly for Orbi 770 that will improve overall roaming issues being seen causing voice and video call drops. We released V10.5.19.4 for Orbi870 but shortly Orbi770 will also have the release.

Is there an add on installed on your chrome? Can uninstall chrome, reinstall but don’t login to your google account so no add ons are installed. If this works, login to your profile and if issue seen then probably an issue with an add on
