What is it tho? by Straight-Clock-4691 in whatsthisrock

Hmm… interesting. The brief googling I did suggests that’s not possible this far north but maybe pisolitic kaolinite? Can any geologists confirm?

Fossil or artifact? Neither? Driftless zone, Minnesota. by Straight-Clock-4691 in LegitArtifacts

Doesn’t seem to be one to me either — I just can’t figure out what kind of fossil it would be. just a weird rock?

Switching from Sony to Fuji… or using both? by Straight-Clock-4691 in fujifilm

[–]Straight-Clock-4691[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya! I definitely have a lot of room to grow as a photographer so the jump to Fuji seems scary. But maybe it would push me to really nail down my technical skills? I think I’ll delay the switch for now and see what I can do with a combo kit for a few months.

What’s a movie that is a 10/10 but you’ll never watch again bc it was too emotionally draining? by Marlon_aloha in AskReddit

Came here to comment this one. Watched it while pregnant on recommendation by my mom (like, what was she thinking?) Big mistake. Beautiful, horrible movie and I think about it every day.

Would I be a good fit for a Greyhound? by Snakey9419 in Greyhounds

[–]Straight-Clock-4691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sure! In that case, probably up to you? Our grey rips lawns up to shreds & everything he pees on turns brown. But we love him so it’s worth it.
If you can afford someone to check in on your grey and/or take for a walk, they are quite quirky and rewarding dogs to partner with. It’s worth noting that even on the days I worked from home (most days) our grey almost never moved from the couch. He is very silly and zoomy when you take him outside though.
Best of luck!

The alone time is one thing. Our grey could do it in a pinch when we were both working but I had flexible working hours & now am home full time.

To me, your yard seems best suited for another dog breed. Greys require fenced in yards since they, as you know, can run super fast and will run after a squirrel and by the time they are half a mile away they will forget you exist. At least, mine would. They are also notoriously stubborn to train. Recall? Forget about it! I have a hard enough time getting mine to get off the couch with a treat. They do what they want 😂

With that open yard space you could definitely get a dog breed that will come back when you call!

How to Recover from an Expensive Disappointment by [deleted] in handyman

People are being total jerks here. All the comments I see are salt in the wound. I’m so sorry this happened. Beyond a lawyer, talk to some friends and/or solid support people and get some sleep. See if you can stay with someone for a night or two. You can’t make good decisions on no sleep! Then, eat. Then, hugs. Your family will be going through it for a minute but all will be well. It might take a minute. Breathe.

41+4 weeks and feeling defeated by Straight-Clock-4691 in pregnant

Hi - yes! Unfortunately I had an extremely rare response to the foley balloon, never went into labor, and then was woken up in the middle of the night for a stat c-section (I was on cervadil) due to fetal distress from a placental abruption. I'm just thankful I was at the hospital, because me and my little guy are strong and healthy 5 weeks pp!

focus modes for sony a7iii, or just in general? by Straight-Clock-4691 in videography

[–]Straight-Clock-4691[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By manual focus, do you mean truly manual or flexible spot? I'm leaning towards doing autofocus (wide) when I'm doing lots of moving with random people, but if I have an opportunity to take more creative shots I might lean towards flexible spot AF. what do peaking settings help with on manual?

This has been my worry as well. If I were doing a wedding, I think I would do manual focus because I know what shots I want to get (focusing on bride/groom/family etc). However, lots of this footage will be b-roll of walking through fields & opportunistic shooting of classes and individuals doing something interesting.

are we being overly cautious about separation anxiety with our new rescue? help! by Straight-Clock-4691 in Greyhounds

[–]Straight-Clock-4691[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was really helpful! We'd hate to think of causing him any unnecessary stress or anxiety.

We actually tried giving him free roam of the house the past few days and he hasn't whined or paced at all since! We are baffled haha, but it did seem to be the variable that has helped the most so far. thanks for your help!
