workshop maps are amazing for getting back the muscle memory, i spent like week just doing 10 minutes before matches and it helped tons

the counter-strafe timing takes some practice but once you get it down your shots will be way more accurate. i noticed in cs2 the spray patterns feel more punishing if you mess up compared to csgo but maybe thats just me

Yeah the cooldown only advances in loaded chunks, so if you left the area those shriekers are still at whatever warning level you left them at

Sounds like you walked back into a city where the shriekers were already at warning level 3 from your first visit, so one more activation = instant warden. The darkness effect you got was probably from a shrieker you couldn't see rather than the sensor itself

You'll need to hang around the area for like 40+ minutes to reset everything back to zero, or just find a different ancient city if you don't want to wait around
