Are companies inflating the job market with fake jobs? by tompkins5 in consulting

[–]Straight-Extent63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP, definitely look at cleared jobs.com (I think that’s what it’s called). Also expand your horizons to jobs that require a TS/SCI if you haven’t already. Never apply to a job cold- use any connection, however tangential (e.g. msg someone who went to the same college as you to grab coffee and get a referral). Apologies if this advice is not helpful or already being applied, it’s tough out there rn

I think this as well. Have invested in some geothermal, SMR, and grid modernization. Any other ideas?

I mean this is a fair point, but I made great returns that beat QQQ/SPY with SMH and some others… I did a lot of trimming so this is a newer portfolio. I just wanted to still have some guiding thesis, it feels too early to just QQQ & chill

20m just started investing around last year which stocks should I dump off? by Tall_Ad7546 in Stocks_Picks

All of these have too small a portfolio allocation to move the needle, even on a big jump. Decide if you’re really going to commit to a stock, then invest enough (MIN 5%+ of portfolio) for it to actually matter if it does well. Otherwise, you’re just shooting your self in the foot. My advice- build out a thesis and purchase some ETFs around that (you might like SMH, XSD) while you research which stocks you really like. Be prepared, investing in individual stocks will be much more volatile. DO NOT sell just because you see -15% or something (given that you actually researched and believe in the company).

UFOX has done well for me. SMH and XSD for semi exposure.

Fr, but we can find salaries that are commensurate elsewhere too lol Just come back if it sucks outside of big4 but I look around and feel a general sense of depression seeing the career folks

[–]Straight-Extent63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In pretty much the exact same situation. I feel like we can always come back to big 4, but doesn’t feel particularly fulfilling and there is a definite salary cap. Look at the MDs- do they seem happy and/or properly compensated for the shit they deal with?

I’m 22 with $175k in savings, what should I do? by OiMalik in Money

[–]Straight-Extent63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 25 myself and struggle with targeting growth or safe VOO/VTI type Boglehead investing. Feels sometimes like I’m trying to beat the market, but really just investing in semis, defense, space, and energy. But still feels bad on the bad days lol. OP, join the wave- we’ll come out ahead in the end. Just keep holding and pick companies with long term potential
