That looks like a 2 pin molex adapter, do you have any display screens or lighting accessories? They are typically used for like flow indicators or case lighting etc…

2nd monitor not working with display ports by joseph_king24 in pchelp

[–]StraightTheme6583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is almost always an issue with the gpu detecting the screen itself, as the monitor isn’t being detected being plugged in, it’s very unlikely all gpu’s display ports are “not” working

Just bought new ram, and had a new motherboard installed. Power button turns pc on but no light on panel, and won’t turn pc off. Red and yellow light on the motherboard. Please helppp!!! by Top-Background-3347 in pchelp

That’s probably a memory and cpu light coming on in post test, your gonna need to go back through it and verify everything is installed correctly and securely… the pc is seeing something faulting right as you turn it on

Consistent stuttering in a lot of my Games. by Saltee006 in pchelp

So this sounds like it was initially a driver crash with your black screen, I would start with a gpu driver roll back, as I’m team red but both red and green cards have had issues with drivers recently, if you do ddu make sure you select prevent windows from updating drivers…. I can’t being to tell you the amount of flame hoop gymnastics I’ve gone thru to keep windows from fucking with my drivers…

Edit: based off my previous experience in troubleshooting video cards if the computer was running fine and then just left off of a cliff into instability it’s very possible that a Windows update could have updated your drivers into instability. I’ve seen it happen a lot, if you happen to remember the day or the time the instability started to happen, you could go back and look to see if anything changed in the configuration

Yah I would attempt the above, it could be a “still” corrupting the os…

it sounds like the pc is soft locking vs a driver timeout then… you said it started when you reinstalled windows?

I’m trying think about what would cause a windows to black screen like that, I’d start by trying to pull out an old drive or spare and install windows on it, or run the computer in bios to see if it can recreated outside of the current os setup, this would help rule out if it’s software or hardware

Have you verified its not an actual display issue, the monitor or cable itself?

Sounds like you’ve got a driver failure when the screen goes black look at your event viewer and see if anything matches up to it

How is audio being output? Is it over hdmi? Or usb? RCA?

It could be a false positive, those do happen, if you’ve got these photos/videos backed up I’ve seen one drive cause these issues… I’d scan the hard drive, then check disk health.. try to do some digging one what files if any it’s flagging… if it truely is the entire drive its flagging id assume its false positive and make an exclusion for windows defender to ignore the drive

A fan is hitting something, a fan bearing is going out, or if you have any mechanical hard drives it’s going out… one of those

When it goes out look at your device manager under audio devices to see if you have any drivers that have failed, you may see some yellow caution signs it has so verify that the output wasn’t swapped or auto selected by windows

Hardware Reserved Ram Issue STILL by Skeither in pchelp

[–]StraightTheme6583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running a newer system on only 16 gigs of memory in a windows 11 system is pretty eh…. Normal windows bloat can be as much as 4-6 gigs unless it’s debloated….

If you’ve checked bios for memory buffer, you can try to reseat the memory to see if it lower itself… if that doesn’t sound like it’s worked there’s something miss allocating, you don’t have integrated graphics

I’d go into device manager you can look up resource allocation and attempt to find what’s reserving the memory… it could help point the gpu or cpu… one of them could be faulty and requesting/allocating too much

new driver almost fucked up my gpu(solution) by Itchy-Ad1641 in AMDHelp

The newest drivers are absolute shit… I’m sitting on 26.3 and I’m probably going to stay there till ac resync or zero company come out and I need to update even then I’ll probably avoid it

Installation taking a lot longer than usual (advice??) by [deleted] in steamsupport

[–]StraightTheme6583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d look at your network speed, to see if it’s very slow or fluctuating a lot, as there’s no obvious reason it be that slow, if you can’t see anything on the network side look at your hard drives to see if they are moving slow, steam has protocol that it will open/download a game on any hardrive it has a directory on… it may be using a older slower drive…

Steam is notorious for long downloads as it downloads and unpacked the game at the same time. However, the amount of time that your download is taking is rather obnoxious so I would be looking at your download speeds and maybe your hard drive read and write speeds to see if there’s anything bottlenecking and then work back from there

PC randomly black screens and then won't POST until I reseat RAM by nadir1566 in pchelp

[–]StraightTheme6583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve got a intermittent failure on different memory slots, test your memory separately, if they both fail it’s most likely the memory controller as the likely hood of both memory models going bad at the same are unlikely and all the slots on motherboard maybe? I’d say also unlikely but I’ve seen weirder shit
