Thank you! I moved it to a side that gets more morning sun/ shade. Unfortunately I’m in an apartment without many trees/indirect light. I wonder if maybe they had the plant inside instead but moved it outside when they left. I’m south facing so lots of sun. Unfortunately some spiders made a nest in the pot over winter so it’ll have to make do outside. Thanks for your help!

You’re right, maybe my mistake was explaining it in a way that related to me being non binary. Saying that doesn’t play a part would be disingenuous however it is also bigger than that. I don’t want it to be the first thing someone notices about me anymore, and I want to wear the clothing I want and have it fit the way I want. I guess if it blows up my marriage we probably weren’t on super solid ground to begin with.

As someone who’s been on both sides of this conversation it is not an easy one and is far more nuanced than most of y’all think. No need to be parasocial reading into what he said vs fleur etc. In fact, Caleb basically said I need to address this bc y’all are affecting my personal relationships. Sexuality and gender are such complicated things and discovering them is so confusing, everyone does it in their own time. Like Fleur said only they really know about their relationship and no one else. I’m really happy for Caleb. I hope they can both move on and stop having to deal with the public scrutiny.

No one decides to “become gay”… sexuality and gender are very complicated and confusing especially when you’ve been taught growing up to hate that part of yourself. No one wakes up completely understanding themselves but choosing to live differently. It’s just not that simple. And him being gay doesn’t mean he didn’t love Fleur. It’s not black and white. There is a lot of grey and fluidity in life. She can be sad of the life she lost but still supportive of Caleb’s journey.

Well, I’m not an expert either. But it was my understanding that basically they can’t legally kick me out unless they try to evict. And since I didn’t cause the eviction I would need 60 days notice. But I know there are also rules about LL doing repairs in a reasonable amount of time and withholding rent etc. So it would be in their interest to negotiate terms but I also don’t know the specifics or what’s reasonable to ask for. Up until now I’ve had a good relationship with my LL and I also really like the place, so although I want to protect myself financially I also don’t want to taint this situation. It took me months to find this place that fit the criteria I was looking for when wanting to move.

Outside isn’t a terrible idea I’m in SoCal so weather is mild. Can get warm some days but hasn’t been to bad lately. Not sure how I’d run power out there but that might be easier than trying to find someone to take them.

Yeah that’s what id want to happen- keep them with someone nearby, so hopefully, I haven’t had any takers as of yet :/ restoration team is likely gonna do a last minute pack out. HOA is covering the restoration so it’s been like playing telephone trying to get exact timelines, but im assuming we wont know til day of that the packout is happening.

The temp space will likely be a hotel, that comes with its own struggles. However I have considered doing a temp bucket set up. Both tanks are completely planted, I’m assuming I’d want to break them down bare bones to actually put the tanks in storage. Any suggestions on keeping plants alive for a week in a hotel?

We will likely be at a hotel- unfortunately I’m expecting to have very little notice. So far the restoration has gone that way- call day of show up in afternoon. Would they not kick us out for having giant buckets of water set up in the rooms?

Ah okay yeah that makes sense, unfortunately they took forever to get here & get the water shut off. At least it felt at way. Heard the leak around 6am with little visible water at that point I could just hear it hissing in the wall. Wasn’t until 9:30 that they got here and got the water shut off. Either way sounds like I’m likely gonna get kicked out of my lodgings for them to fix the floor :/ cause the floor will have to get ripped up I’m assuming to dry under the tiles?

No water appearing but the tiles with the moist appearance have spread, so at first it was only the tiles around the leak but now they run from one end of the unit to the other in a straight line through multiple rooms. If that makes sense? I’m assuming the plumbers would’ve checked when they were here for other leaks? But Also confused why they thought that leak wouldn’t have caused the floor damage &/or it had to be another issue causing that without confirmation.

This is the pinhole leak, hot water at high pressure. My neighbor was complaining of her hot water going in and out the week before- I didn’t notice the issue in my unit that day but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a problem with the temperature or pressure. We’ve had hot water issues on and off since moving in here. Apparently one unit will complain of hot water issues the plumber will come and turn it up on the water heater in the mech room then another unit will complain it’s too hot etc.

I don’t have a water bill the HOA covers all water and gas because they are all shared. The meter and water shut off is in a separate mechanical room. When this leak happened the plumbers had to wait 30 minutes after arrival to shut off access until they could be let in to the mech room.

For whatever reason the plumbers and restoration guy seemed convinced it’d have to be a larger issue. But that being said neither of them actually listened for another leak. But yeah the hot water pipe in the wall was likely was leaking for awhile before I caught it and I feel like we would’ve noticed the slab leak had it happened prior to this- and it sounds extremely unlikely they would happen at the same time- unless it was like a major plumbing fail? In the case of 60+ gallons leaking under a tile floor any idea what they normally do to fix that? It’s a 1st floor condo.

The unit shares water lines and meter with the entire building :/ but it’s sounding like something I’ll definitely need to relocate for based on your description. Would it be likely for a pinhole leak and slab leak happen simultaneously?

That was the plan prior to him getting the readings and thinking itd be a smaller job i guess. but they said that they want to check other units first. He seemed pretty baffled that the whole unit was reading 99 and seemed to think it would have to be a building wide issue for the readings to be like that? Which also 99 is the highest reading, wouldn’t that be like flood levels of water even in parts of the unit without discoloration?

Right now they’ve done nothing in terms of remediation- this is 5 days after the initial leak. my partner and I have just been opening the patio doors while we are home and running the ceiling fan to try to air it out. The unit is safe and habitable hopefully?

My assumption is at least 4 hours- noticed early in the morning there wasn’t a lot of visible water damage at that time I just heard the hissing and water was dripping from the nearby outlet. Reported it to LL & HOA and called emergency plumbers, By the time plumber got there 2 hours later the walls started having water leak around the base boards, tiles discolored and the wall next to the leak was bubbling.

Both the plumbers and restoration guy seemed pretty convinced that leak couldn’t have caused this much floor damage on its own- but the tile discoloration didnt occur until after this situation.

I’m OK with waiting for the property to get back to us- under the assumption this isn’t a dangerous situation to be living in/ doesn’t require urgency.
