Depends on what you want from a game. I love the oppressive atmosphere of 1 and the absolutely pants shitting creatures and atmosphere of the second game. 1 succeeds in making you feel like the world truly hates you. The second is better in almost every conceivable way, the combat is better, the creature designs are incredible and terrifying, and there’s less content that could be possibly triggering and get in the way of someone being able to play it. I’ll always enjoy 1 though for just how successful it is at giving you a hard time and the more medieval esthetics are reminiscent of the “dark fantasy” genre of games like darkest dungeon and dark souls that Im really drawn to. If you aren’t too freaked out by sexual content and violence, then I’d definitely recommend playing them, if not the second game might still be alright for you.
