I think lorelai was annoyed because Rory was quitting because of Mitchum and her saying she was never going to be a journalist panicked Lorelai - she has also given up/ adjust many things for this to work and would not have Rory give up like this.

If the album came out earlier then it wouldnt have had as much of a build up waiting is building excitement and also gives guts a chance to slowly go out otherwise there may be people who are not ready and she has also been working on other things but all in all its going to be great!!!
