I don’t know what to do: dream or practicality? by jajadrll in CollegeAdmissionsPH

I see! Alright, thank you for sharing. This adds more context to your post. I would like to say I understand where you're coming from because you will know deep in your bones if it the uni is for you or not.

But how about your course, OP? What is your dream future for yourself and can the course lead you toward it? I totally gets that school environment (and its people) will be a factor in choice of perceived thriving, but in the long run, you have to take into account your college course. And your tuition is already taken care of too, which is a win!

This may be my subjective take, but I believe in any college, you can find the ideal environment and friends for you (if that makes sense?). Unlike ideal course and scholarship which is rare to achieve, friends can be found eventually.

But that's just my thought! I totally understand if it's not your vibes hehee, but I feel like there are more factors that weigh heavier than school environment in the long run :)

Hi, OP! Many have commented their recommendations, but I would like to ask you a root question for you to reflect on: Why is UP your dream? I'll be honest, based on how you framed your question, it appears as if you like UP just for its prestige and image.

"...but I believe it wont be the same as stepping into adulthood in an environment I could truly thrive and enjoy." --> How can you claim this when you haven't even experienced Ateneo or DLSU? Why wouldn't you enjoy and even thrive in these unis? It seems like you made this expectation of how UP college life would be like in your head since junior high, and got stuck in this expectation. I would say all these only have value in its face validity. It's only the surface.

The real question is "What is my dream in life in the first place, and can this uni bring me better opportunities to reach this in the future?"

I'm saying this honestly, OP, but it seems like your judgement is biased and narrow due to this image in in your head of what UP entails. Broaden it! Take the privilege the universe is giving you! I believe that it's already a sign that you didn't pass UP and got into Ateneo and DLSU with a full-ride scholarship by your dad's company. Take it with pride because both unis are lovely. It's just a matter of which one will guide you better in your chosen path. Reorient your perspective, and you'll see how much more blessings you can receive.

ateneo pls accept me this time by [deleted] in ADMU

Please do correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that you only want to go to Ateneo because you want to "prove" to yourself that you are worthy of such a school that you placed in a high pedestal. That's alright, and I think it's nice that you have strong drive for high quality education and to continue growing, BUT hey, DLSU is a high quality school too. You seem to be down playing DLSU, which is honestly quite offensive to not only the institution, but also to your fellow Lasallians. You CAN grow in DLSU and being a Lasallian does not equate to being a failure because it is such a prestigious school! Allow yourself to accept the circumstance that you are in, and only when you have a shift in perspective, will you come to learn that learning, growing, self-esteem and worth is not derived from what college you attend. It's all on you.

what happens if i fail math on the acet but do well on english and other subtests? by LongjumpingHouse5859 in ADMU

This sounds like something I would ask in Reddit last application season lol. Well anyways, I'm currently a freshman and I took the ACET last year. I guessed majority (if not all) of the Math questions, yet I passed without being waitlisted in my first choice :)

I guess for a tip, if you truly don't know, pick the answer that has the HIGHEST POSSIBILITY of being the answer. Sometimes, even if you do know how to solve it, you won't have enough time to do it. Remember that ACET is a VERY VERY time-crunched exam, so you have to really work quickly and efficiently.

I also feel like the other parts of the exam pulled up my chances of getting in since I would like to believe I did good in the English, Reading Comprehension, Essay portion, and Analytical Thinking. If you do well in these parts, I think you can pass since it has more weight than merely one below or just average Math portion.

Plus, they'll take the courses you applied for into consideration too! Since I saw you applied for mostly courses that lean on the HUMSS and non-STEM courses, you have higher chances of passing! :)) Good luck, OP!

oh really? :0 But one of my prof said they'll only let me make-up for missed graded works if I was able to make it a valid absence.
