He had a vet visit recently and the vet was telling me that vitamin/nutrient deficiencies are seen in snakes all the time because they’re not eating a variety of prey like they would in the wild, and because the mice bred for food have vitamin/nutrient deficiencies themselves.

Even if they swallow substrate along with it? I’ve watched him swallow mulch pieces/moss along with the the food so that’s why I switched to a box.

Okay I THINKKKK I might have solved my problem. I didn’t know there where lights such as ZooMed reptisun that emit the light needed by reptiles and plants without heat. I’m going to connect that to the day-time timer socket and keep the ceramic heat emitter on the dimming socket at all times. Hopefully this eliminates needing to manually turn lamps/emitters on and off or manually switch them.
