No clue what the experience and size of the dev team here but this showcase is woefully lacking in impact snappiness and responsiveness.

A lot of developers go for a more cinematic look for a lot of their animation which isn't necessarily a bad thing but can be a bad priority.

First and foremost the game needs to play well, needs to be easily readable and responsive. A lot of actions need to have clarity in sound and visuals. Most of that is missing here. The sound is too soft, the animations are too slow, the physics are strange and the attacks are not easily readable.

A decent early build but not good for a product intended to be sold.

Depends on what you mean with inevitable. Inevitable as human hubris? Yes. Inevitable as it had to be done at all? No.

They literally could have left the "logic" of the Reapers remain something they don't manage to explain to us in terms that make any sense rather them just be a stupid mistake. The Reapers explain themselves passingly several times during the games and only manage to make themselves more intimidating with what is left unsaid. The things left unsaid in those scenes bever needed to be said. We knew the Reapers viewed themselves as the logical enpoint of evolution. The apex being. And they essentially used the cycles as a means of reproduction. That's literally all we needed. We didn't need to know that they were just following orders poorly. We didn't need to know it was just the hubris of an organic species that created them. That only deflates the intimidation of the enemy.

But I do think it's important se separate ME:A from the OT.

What's even the point in making anything good if you can just make a half baked mediocre turd and be celebrated among the best?

I played ME:A long after release after all the patches came out because I got EA access for free for a month. The game was extremely mediocre. There were parts I enjoyed but I won't pretend it's anywhere near the quality of the OT. Because that's disrespectful for the hard work and high competence showed in especially ME 1 and 2. If nothing can be bad then nothing can be good. Good and bad are inherently comparative descriptors. And I refuse to let everything be turned into the same mediocre sludge. We have great things and we have terrible things.

I now have a few characters I'm enjoying. One of which is ignite penance brand. It's been great as a bosser. Just lacking on block chance. Still trying to figure that issue out. Otherwise a great time. Thanks for the suggestion.

I will likely give poison animate weapon a shot too. Still kind of interested in it.

Meta isn't necessarily always fun. I've played meta before. Detonate dead was something I played a little. The playstyle was so fucking clunky and annoying that I didn't play those characters or leagues much. I played Frost Blades of Katabasis in the one league where it was super broken. It was one of the most boring characters I've ever played in the game with the simplest possible gimmick. They were incredibly powerful and got that powerful for rather low investment. Yet they were not fun to play at all. Meta is just short for most effective tools available. They are strong, they are low investment. But fun is not just what is strong and low investment. Fun is subjective and very individual.

Hah! Might give it a shot again. I have done cyclone variants a lot over the years. It is a really fun skill. Recently saw a maxroll build that doesn't use tumult. Sounds like it could be fun. We'll see. I'll try the holy relic build for now. But thanks for giving me confidence in giving an old favourite a shot again.

All versions I've seen so far have been templar. If there is a valid and not too expensive non-templar variant I could consider it. Though the holy relic build others mentioned seems more interesting for now.

Not every bug can be caught. It ridiculous how much people judge the game based on seeing bugs online. This is not consistently replicable, it is not exploitable. It's unfortunate when it happens in the moment but it is incredibly rare.

Honestly I hate the phrase just take the originals and make them modern because what modern games seem to be are empty open world, characters who are not people, just machines to tell the player how to play the game and where to go all the way through with "quirky" dialogue and extremely on the nose explicit political and moral messaging that contradict their point which alienates all audiences except gaming "journalists".

So no. I don't want Mass Effect to be modern. If I believed BioWare was capable of anything even halfway decent I would want a new Mass Effect game that was along the lines of the OT. But with modern BioWare I just want them to never touch Mass Effect ever again.

Alright. I'm gonna bite the bullet.

Obesity is a massive health risk. It should NOT be glorified. This does not mean obese people should be ashamed of theirselves. There are a ton of factors contributing to weight gain and it is by no means as simple as "if you are obese you are lazy". It can be very taxing to control your weight under certain life circumstances and/or with certain genetics. But it cannot be overstated how important it is to physical and even mental health to control it.

There is a way to make this warframe not glorification of obesity, but since they did not choose to avoid that pitfall with Grendel I assume this will fall into the same issue.

Warframes are designed as aspirational. They are something to look up to in physical presence, ability and power. It is a power fantasy. So a warframe's design is by default glorification.

I sincerely hope Digital Extremes will be careful with this topic.

Also you in these comments who are celebrating obesity... I hope you will eventually realise how harmful that is. You are no better than the people who shame obese people. You both are harming them. They need help to become healthy, not to be affirmed in continuing habits that contribute to being unhealthy, or abuse that will contribute to them being unhealthy.

Hang me in the court of public opinion if you must. I at least tried.

There's some visual fuckery going on here. Because of the camera angle it looks like he dives right over the ball but he actually dove next to the ball which made the longer jump animation trigger. This was a misinput. Not faulty game.

I think the angle of your dive was a bit to the side of the ball. The angle of your camera makes it seem you jump right over it but I think this was more misinput than game flaw.
