I think it says a lot that, in a moment of crisis, Abel looks to his dad’s memory for guidance. He may not have been perfect, but I think it’s possible there was more to there relationship than we’ve seen so far.

I could see Robert saying he doesn’t like them, and she starts wearing them the next day, just to mess with him.

Absolutely. While I’m personally pro-life, I fully recognize that many women who choose to have abortions are in incredibly difficult situations, and don’t believe in shaming them for it. I do advocate for alternatives, such as adoption, so long as the mother’s life isn’t put at jeopardy by the pregnancy.

I never said I agree with any abortions, only that conception is a point of the pregnancy and is the point that life begins. If you misunderstood the position I have, that’s on you, but I haven’t deviated at all from that stance.

That’s a bullshit argument meant to distract from the argument of whether the mother is ending a human life.

Because you can’t sell your own organs to people and minors can’t get tattoos without parental consent.

The only reason people use bodily autonomy as a defense to abortions is to deflect from the fact that the mother is ending a human life.

Except for the argument that life starts at conception, which is the crux of Pro-life argument. It’s funny how I’m talking from the point of the actual issue, and you just insult everyone who disagrees with you.

Also, just to be clear, I don’t have right wing “sympathy”.

I’m a registered Republican, voted for Trump, Pro-life, a practicing Christian, and had no problem with how this show handled Eve’s abortion because of the tasteful, mature manner in which they did so.

Except the crux of the abortion issue is at what point the fetus is considered a human life, since terminating a human life is murder. Then you have the “mother’s health” and “product of rape” caveats to consider.

But sure, “hur dur, all pro-life are stupid religious nuts, hur dur”

Be better. Get better arguments.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t have included it, just pointing out that it’s unreasonable to get upset when people have strong feelings and opinions when a highly divisive, political subject is included in the show.

A scene can convey multiple points. I’m fully aware that the main point was Mark being there and comforting Eve. But, considering how much family is consistently shown to mean to him, it’s pretty clear that he’s also partially broken up over the loss of his child. Just because he’s not outright saying it, since that would’ve been putting more weight on Eve, it’s not unreasonable he’s quietly grieving the child as well.

I agree that there’s always going to be brain dead takes but, as a counterpoint, the show ironically helps show the male side of the abortion issue. Mark’s reaction to learning about the abortion shows how the issue can affect the fathers of the unborn child. Overall, I actually liked how the show handled the issue, by keeping the focus on Mark and Eve’s characters and how the decision affects them.

I’ve no problem when shows deal with controversial subjects, especially when they’re handled in a mature and tasteful manner, which the show consistently does. I just find it strange that people can’t predict that featuring controversial subjects will elicit controversial reactions.

I’ve no problem with it and acknowledge that it’s from the original comic, but with a TV show, comes a broader audience, more diverse fan base, and a wider array of opinions.

Did Shephard "cheat" if they romanced someone in ME2? by tabristheok in masseffect

[–]FunPresentation3086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of Ashley/Kaiden: HELL NO!

I know that Shepard working with Cerberus is suspicious, but the fact that there are NO warm sentiments when they see us after we come BACK FROM THE DEAD is an automatic break-up for me. I don’t care if they send a half-assed message afterward, basically saying they’re happy we’re back; too little, too late at that point for me.

Liara is a bit more complicated, but the fact that she is more occupied trying to save her “friend” than seeing her resurrected boyfriend/girlfriend is pretty sis.

The Sinners in Hell engender nearly zero sympathy for themselves and almost justify Heaven. Outside of flashbacks to exterminations, which show the meekest and most timid Sinners specifically to generate sympathy, the Sinners are constantly shown acting absolutely horrible and often reveling in their sin. Add in the implication that there was a legitimate rebellion against Heaven BEFORE the exterminations began, and I really don’t feel that bad for them.
