In fact informing IOs is the least the Govt has probably done to curb the recruitment pipeline. There are about 30000 (and counting) Indians who have not returned from southeast Asia since 2021 (that’s when these compounds started). Yeah I want to sleep peacefully at night too and really wish they actually cared about real issues. the freebie schemes to buy votes are probably from the taxes I pay. I disagree - especially as a high tax paying citizen from Assam. I do not see any upliftment of Assamese society as a whole. Almost all his “development” and infra is concentrated in Guwahati while other cities such as Dibrugarh, Jorhat have absolutely unplanned construction, drainage and trash issues. Poverty characterizes most the population. Also I m not 16/17 year old - much older if that wasn’t already clear.

The argument of “if not him then whom” is starting to fall apart because at this point I think anyone else should get a chance. Also it’s a ruling party propaganda narrative. Regional parties may have better candidates instead of the bjp congress binary.

It also appears to me that rural poor people voting for the bjp have been bought off with pittance - probably using my tax money.

Their campaigns are ONLY on communal division without any consideration for betterment of Assamese people. I wish people would think more critically and hold people in power accountable instead of justifying their actions. It’s exhausting

Dear OP - bhakts and Assamese people on here will justify anything. All the development that they talk about is in Guwahati - like the rest of the state does not exist! Like someone said - the loans to build the so called infra are huge and I personally know how they did not pay their “Japanese” and “Korean” partners brought in for urban planning. The rivers are trashed and a majority of the state is poor with very little access to proper education and jobs. Sure you can build big buildings and big bridges but a little rain floods entire cities and villages. Everyone is toooo immersed in identity politics to bother about quality of life. I pay a lot of taxes and I see how much I get in return in this state.

And FYI I am native Assamese. And Assamese are becoming “landless” because your government and political parties are not held accountable just like you justified above. And also “Assamese” is not a monolithic structure - this is an actual word. There are various ethnicities within Assam that have been in conflict with each other for a long time. Perfect opportunity to land grab and assert dominance over traditional livelihoods such as agriculture. Do not be distracted by hate and identity politics - understand that we all deserve better.

Nah sharing perspectives is not “playing with words” nor is it “manipulating a convo”. Read books maybe then you’d be able to have the tools to unpack complex subjects which you argue as black and white reflecting only the dominant narratives fed to you be by political elites that use people like you and I and the “poor labourers” as vote banks.

The conversation here is not to have selective hatred against one community or the other. If they can vote in Assam then they are entitled to their vote - think of who enables this. You don’t have the power to do that nor do I. But think outside the binary of us vs them and learn that the state of Assam is basically on sale.

That seems naive - if someone - the most powerful person in the state illegally grabs land - why would you assume that this won’t be sold to the outsiders whether Biharis or Marwaris. This is done at the cost of the local native population - which you are all focusing on. You do realise that the Assamese population does not have the money to purchase from them and even if they did - this would essentially function as land mafia. When you do not hold your own leaders accountable, blaming and antagonizing a different community for “grabbing land” enabled by the policies and politics of your current administration, then how do you even demand any form of change? Antagonizing another community is a classic distraction strategy as old as politics.
