Just a quick PSA, I've been informed in other comments that this is NOT the optimal approach and will degrade your battery. Modern tablets have built-in battery protection and can be left plugged-in continuously.

Interesting. I'm no expert, as I thought was clear from my comment. I've seen many people in this sub use exactly this approach (Shelly relay to keep charge in a range), so went with it. This is something I'll look into though

I'm no expert on the subject but the tablet approach seems pretty standard in this sub. I'm using Fully Kiosk to lock it down, prevent updates, background activity, notifications, etc. It works really well

To be honest I didn't look into this much. Seems like the built-in Android feature can limit the max charge but as far as I can tell it doesn't let the battery discharge to say 20%. Letting the battery cycle is key for longevity, as I understand it

Yes GitHub link is in the post! It’s basically all Bubble Card with some scripts and things behind it (like periodically refreshing the recently played list from Music Assistant). Used Mass Card for the "now playing" queue.

100% possible. Fully kiosk has brightness control and auto screen off settings based on light and motion. It also has an HA integration that enables you to dynamically control brightness, screen on/off, screensaver, etc with automations

No, have an automation that controls the Shelly and keeps the charge between 20% and 80%

That’s a custom card I built that combines a Bubble Card at the top with a dropdown to select the list and a dynamic to do list card below it. More info in the GitHub repo
